Bloggiesta (Ole!) – The Starting Line

Posted September 28, 2012 in Event / 13 Comments

Bloggiesta is a weekend devoted to working on your blog.  You know your blog needs it.  Why not join a whole bunch of bloggers and make it fun!  You never know, you might get a lot accomplished!!

This very awesome event was originally started four years ago by Natasha of Maw Books and has been passed into the capable hosting hands of Danielle @ There’s a Book and Suey @ It’s All About Books

How will my brain grow, you ask?  Well, the mini-challenges are set up to discuss specific topics such as:

  • Scheduling Posts and Organization
  • Increasing Blog Traffic
  • Using a Variety of Applications in Conjunction with your Blogging. (ie. Evernote, Microsoft Access, etc.)
  • WordPress vs. Blogger
  • Discussion Posts…How-to
  • And many many more!
To read more and sign up for this awesome event, go over to There’s a Book sign up post or starting line post.
Here is my REVISED list of to-do items:
  • Write About Me page
  • Write Contest policy page
  • Write Review scale page
  • Make a current contests side widget
  • Design or find a good divider
  • Put in HTML to hide url from comments.php
  • Make a policies tab and put policies and review scale underneath
  • Fave Authors page using Catalog template for series & websites
  • Make Upcoming releases widget
  • Put blog tour, midwest blog, street teams, & “advertisements” in footer (small)
  • Fix or make a new signature and embed (can I?) into posts
  • Add additional buttons to blogroll
  • Add Amazon, B&N & Indie affiliate buttons
  • Convert Review pages to have alphabetical tabs
  • Find a good calendar program that syncs with iPhone (not Google)
  • Add drop down menu for tags?
  • Fill out design application for new header
  • SEO – turn on again?
  • Make meme button for Lisa at PNR & UF Reviews and Goodies
  • Look for a new template on Themeforest

I have my work cut out for me!!  I shall conquer!!!

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. I’ve been doing a little bit every week to fix up my blog. The past month or so I’ve gotten a new header and spiced up the icons, button, etc. I did post a bunch of reviews on other sites but I’m definitely not ‘caught up’. It seems like there’s always more you can do to fix up a blog. Oh, and I got a facebook page for my blog, something that took me YEARS to do. And it feels so good, I feel like I’m getting stuff accomplished. I should have signed up for bloggiesta, but it’s too hard for me to stick with one thing when I have so much other stuff to do too. So I’ll just keep with a little bit here and there I guess.
    Good luck with your list!

  2. Hooray for revised lists! I dunno why I even bother, I never stick to my list. I try, but I tend to jump around ALOT when things catch my attention. Hope you’re having a productive weekend!

  3. What a great idea this is..but I am so slammed with Something Wicked and weekends are not good for blogging. I hope you knocked out all the stuff on your list…stay far far away from anything google related. I use icalender since it is already on my Mac, iPhone and ipad it automatically syncs up. It took me awhile before I learned how valuable a schedule was! I will be watching for your progress report. See you over at my blog for Something Wicked, I really do have some great giveaways. The Jenny Pox one is fabulous!
