Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is a Sunday re-cap post started by Amanda at On A Book Bender and Tara at 25 Hour Books. It’s a chance to share our love of other blogs. The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.
Hey! Celebration time! I posted a review AND a meme this week. … yep, still lame. I need to sit down and organize my organization. I have my calendars all marked up but I’m losing track of things in my email. I spent a good two hours clearing out my gmail account and I still have over 2,000 unread messages to go. What a lame way to spend time. Stupid stuff like that makes me mad that I let it get that bad and that it keeps me from reading and doing other more fun things.
… like seeing Breaking Dawn 2. I went to the 10pm Thursday night showing with my neighbor, her daughter and a few of my neighbor’s friends. I ate copious amounts of popcorn, over-inflated my bladder with Diet Pepsi and almost became a witness to a major throwdown over seats and the ability to count saved seat correctly. Seriously? Out in the country at a Twilight showing??? Hey, it was a nice ending to the franchise, though. Time to put it to bed and move on, though.
Around the Blogosphere
- Author Kevin Hearne has been riled lately about Facebook and it’s “swell” change to charge owners of pages to promote their posts. If you haven’t heard about this greedy, confusing little mess, check his blog post out about it. I mean, seriously, how many of us are going to go through all our “Likes” and click on “Receive Notifications”? Lame…
- Author Victoria Scott posted a really awesome explanation of why she went with the publishers she did for her books. And she’s not real happy about people dissing on Entangled Publishing. I’m not an author but I agree with Victoria. Some people will just be idiots.
- There’s a really cool meme that takes place every Friday and it’s hosted by Smash @ Smash Attack Reads and Kt @ A Book Obsession. My head smacked the kitchen table a few times late on Friday when I realized that I missed joining in. This was because I missed the first week and the next week I had nothing to offer. You see, the meme is called “Let’s Talk with Smash & Kt” and they discuss topics that don’t always relate to books. Like last week, it was about the Fall TV season and since I don’t watch TV, I had nothing. I wanted to post for this week’s topic but Friday came and went and I totally forgot!! It’s not like the topics aren’t posted ahead of time or anything. This past Friday’s topic is an awesome discussion about book series, whether we love them or hate them.

This week I’m talking about all the books I bought at the book signing I went to a few weeks back and the books I won or received in the mail from some truly awesome people.
Purchased at the Jocelynn Drake book signing:
My best blogging buddy, Lisa (aka Silverlight) @ Paranormal and Urban Fantasy Reviews drives me batty! She’s always sending me books and swag! I’ve done absolutely nothing to deserve these wonderful things, Lisa is just THAT nice of a person!! She surprised me by sending me, completely out of the blue, Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I’ve been wanting to read this book since it came out last Fall of 2011!! Thank you a thousand times, girl! I owe you, again…
An author that I’ve been reading for several years now completely blew me away (as in a slight breeze blew and I was knocked over) and asked me to review a book of hers coming out next month. This was an author whose last book I only gave 3.5 stars! When I got the book in the mail, I could not believe the amount of time that this hugely busy author put into personalizing the book, swag, and putting the whole package together for me. This is going to sound so entirely lame but I really am touched by the generosity of this author. Following her as long as I have, I know first hand that she works extremely hard at promoting herself and the MANY books she writes. Gini Koch, your mind is a wonderful thing! Alien vs. Alien is coming out on December 4th, 2012 (my review is soon!).
Finally, I received from Melissa at Melissa’s Eclectic Bookshelf a huge box of romance books that I won during her One Year Blogoversary Giveaway. Thank you soooooo much, Melissa for the huge box of books!!!
In Her Sights by Robin Perini
A Lady Awakened by Cecelia Grant
Pregnant by the Warrior by Denise Lynn
Just a Cowboy by Rachel Lee
A Duke’s Temptation by Jillian Hunter

That’s it for me this week, guys… What books made their new home at your house?
