About the Book:

Daniel’s got everything figured out. He makes a good living as an artist … mostly through offering “private shows” to the wives of local wealthy businessmen. He never stops playing the game and never lets anyone touch his heart. But when his current fling offers him a few hundred an hour for art lessons for her reclusive, college-dropout daughter, Daniel finds himself forgetting his own rules. The girl is rude. Insulting. Incredible.

And she sees straight through him.

Stella is hiding from the world, not because she wants to, but because crippling panic attacks await her every time she tries to live a normal life. She’s determined to push everyone–including her handsome new art teacher—away. But Daniel makes it utterly impossible. The guy is irritating. Mocking. Magnetic.

And makes her want things she knows she can never have.

What starts as a battle of wills turns into passion, where giving in means facing the things that scare them most.

Why do I sign up for the book tours that I do?  That’s the $1,000 question, huh?  Since I do so few of them, I pick and choose very carefully.  First, I look at the tour host.  Xpresso Book Tours is one of the most organized companies out there offering quality books.

Second and almost more important, I want to make sure I’m going to like the book.  I don’t want to take a book that I could potentially not like and have to go back to the host and say, “Uh, yeah, I didn’t like this book and it’s going to be a bad review…”  I’m lucky I haven’t had to do that yet.

Of course, my record stays unbroken!  Mila Ferrera’s Everything Between Us was such a hit with me that I went back and bought her first book in the “series”, Only Between Us

And no, you DO NOT have to read Only Between Us to enjoy Everything Between Us.  I enjoyed it just fine, thank you….

Ms. Ferrera first won me over by writing Everything Between Us in dual point of view: Daniel and Stella’s.  She starts the story with Daniel’s world and what he does to succeed in the art world.  It ain’t pretty but it’s working for him.  If you’ve read any other reviews, you’ve undoubtedly heard Daniel referred to as a “man-whore” *cringe*.  Well… he is, BUT reading his inner commentary is both hysterical and quite insightful into how smart he is.  I enjoyed watching his character evolve, with some of the stronger core traits shining through.

And he really was the perfect “incentive” and coach for Stella.  Stella is brilliant in playing people and she has a quick wit.  But when it comes to her parents, she just doesn’t stand up to them.  Stella’s egocentric mother just won’t accept that Stella has debilitating panic attacks and she has basically written Stella off as a freak.  As a last ditch effort, Stella’s mom asks her “lover”, Daniel, to teach Stella art for one hour a day.  Before Stella even meets Daniel, she’s all set to run him off, screaming for the hills.

It’s when Daniel takes her verbal abuse that Stella comes out of her shell and finds a reason to fight her panic attacks, and her crazy manipulative family.  Daniel just sees a beautiful girl that totally turned the tables on him.  Oops.  Totally fun story, right?

At times I was waiting for Stella to give the big middle finger to her parents so I didn’t quite get the “big bang” satisfaction I wanted.  Stella demonstrated how smart she was the entire book so in my head I had concocted a super crazy ending.  Totally “my bad” for setting my expectations but what are you going to do?  This crazy imagination of mine is the result of too much reading.

Nope, I haven’t given the entire story away because there’s some really cool scenes that will have you cheering and gasping.  The “loving” is hot & sweet (it’s possible, really!)  And the pace of the story was spot on (as in no lulls).

Back to one last reason why I picked this book tour to feature…  see that book cover up there?  Not the typical romance book cover, right?!  Usually you have your couple facing each other in some sort of embrace.  I was utterly perplexed why Daniel and Stella were standing the way they are.  Trust me in saying that this cover perfectly represents the story.

Annnnnddd…  I’ll give you a chance to figure out how on your own!  Keep going to the bottom of the post for the giveaway!

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. Wonderful review! I’ve been seeing a lot of great things about this one and it sounds like a very emotional and highly character oriented story. I’m also always fascinated by psychological issues like Stella is dealing with. Glad you liked this one, Kristin! 🙂
