Spring 2014 Bloggiesta

…is already on day two but I’m still planning on setting time aside this weekend to work on the blog.  I’m a huge fan of Bloggiesta and all that it offers.  Where else can you find free peer advice all centralized in one place?  If you don’t have time to participate this weekend, I highly recommend you check out the website and sign up for their emails so you hear about the next Bloggiesta.  I’m just saying…

Here are my goals this weekend:

  • I need to figure out what to do with the SEO plug-in I installed on my blog.  I have a tutorial from WPbeginner.com to go through and I can go back through old challenges if I need to.  I had already used an old challenge to start my SEO “journey” this week – thanks, Amanda! I ended up turning it off b/c ever since I turned it on, I’ve been having problems with my “feeds”: feed from NetworkedBlogs to Facebook, Feedburner, and of course, Google+
  • Back up the blog / look into back up program Kimba uses
  • Make sure all my reviews are up to date on their cross posts (Goodreads, Amazon, NetGalley, and Edelweiss)
  • There are at least three challenges I want to hit: Google+, Twitter lists, and FTC Disclosure requirements.  I’ll hit more if I can.
  • Twitter chats – if you’ve ever “seen” me on one, you know I love them.   I can’t do Friday (I’ll be at work) but Saturday and Sunday look promising. – I missed them all, my son got sick this weekend 🙁
  • Fix “Reviews” tab so it reads correctly (includes 2014)
  • Work in website design course
  • Watch YALSA webinar on digital badges (I’m curious)I actually just researched this on the MacArthur Foundation website and Mozilla’s Open Badges website.  Our library was looking at doing badges for their summer reading program but the YA librarian didn’t think badges were doable with our very limited resources.  I’m thinking they might be 😀  I know this isn’t directly related to the blog but indirectly, it’s a part of my “education”
  • Update Goodreads TBR list / shelves – it just needs a severe overhaul!
  • Update my Blogroll!

I think my closing post will be more helpful.  I really haven’t planned that well for this event but I know I need to do some blog tweaking this weekend!

Updated 3/30/14 – I ended up doing better than I thought I would considering I ended up being busy this weekend and my son got sick.  I am bummed about the wasted time on SEO but I think I just need to get rid of Feedburner once and for all.  Feedblitz or Mailchimp… hmmmmm.

You are my go-to girl for everything!!! I’ve actually forwarded your company’s newsletter to friends at work who are writers. And I can’t thank you enough for encouraging me to buy GG2WD – did you see all the free stuff we get NOW?!?!?! O.O

I could just say a simple THANK YOU, huh?

Me, too! I’m so glad it’s the whole weekend so I can work on them all tonight and tomorrow 😉

  1. I’d love it if you’d let me know if/when you find a way to make badges work for your SRP. I’d like to use them in our Teen Summer Volunteer Program, but after attending a badges WLA session it seemed like it was too much for our limited resources also.
