“I can’t believe I just freakin’ did that!!”

It’s Friday night right now and I’m cuddled up on my couch working on blog posts.Β  My first mistake is the word “cuddled”.Β  Quite often I fall asleep sitting up on the computer.Β  Hey, it happens.Β  I get bored setting up review posts.Β

So I’m setting up a review post and just as I’m finishing up getting everything done EXCEPT the actual review, I nod off.Β  Head back on the couch, mouth hanging open type of sleep.Β

Somehow, I click something and wouldn’t you know it, hands to God, I’ve actually managed to “Publish” the stupid post!!!Β  What. The. Heck!!!Β  So I’ve had to DELETE the post, delete the tweets and the Tumblr post.Β  I’ll have to check tomorrow on Facebook and Triberr.Β  Either way…Β  “stupid, stupid, stupid!”Β

So, of course, I start another post.

What else stupid have I done lately?Β  Oh yeah, picked up more review books.Β  Here’s the damage…

Ahh, I did my job well! A little flash here, a little sparkle there… it’s all about distraction. I really have no clue what I’m doing.

Yeah, I completely stumbled on Unwept! I have NO clue about it but it was in Macmillan’s catalog on Edelweiss. We had a librarian-type seminar this past week and I learned a few tricks on using the sort features for searching for books. I should probably share, huh???

  1. I hate when you hit publish on accident, I did it once for a blitz post and thankfully not a cover reveal but every time I tried to put it back to draft it kept publishing, I had to delete the post and start all over. Guess it was just a glitch.

I fell asleep last night when I was reading and my husband left me on the couch. I have been doing that a lot lately might be the book I am reading…or the kids are wearing me out…I blame the kids πŸ™‚

Great Haul!! I am loving the cover of Unwept never heard of it so I will have to go check it out πŸ™‚

Hope you have a great week
and try to stay awake πŸ˜‰

I’m torn on whether I like my hubs leaving me on the couch (and NOT waking me up) or if he really prefers the bed to himself! HA!! He keeps threatening taking pics of my many “pass-outs”…

  2. Really hoping to get Five Ways to Fall myself. I’ve really enjoyed that series. Congrats on your TBR pile progress. I’ve seen Defy around a lot but wasn’t sure if I wanted to pick it up or not. I’ve also hit publish before I was ready. Though…not from falling asleep. πŸ™‚ Hope you have a great week. Enjoy your new books!

Hitting Publish really has been a huge fear of mine!!! I can’t even keep straight anymore where and when all my posts go out (ahhhhh!)

    • K

I had never HEARD of Unwept but when I went to add it to GR, I was surprised all our “peeps” had it! Hence why I need to troll better on Wed & Sundays!!!! πŸ˜€

    • K

Oh! The update button and I are like THIS!! If you could see me, you’d see I’m crossing my fingers πŸ˜€

    • K

I do need to be hit over the head for my stupidity this week, don’t I?!?! I’ve passed WAY TOO many publication dates πŸ™

    • K

I’m still trying to figure it out myself. But once I saw the “Your Post has been published” mumbo jumbo, I woke up REAL quick!

    • K

Well, why didn’t you tell me to “schedule” my posts first? I blame it all on you since you taught me most everything. tee, hee… a fantastic idea none the less!!

Who dropped their laptop? Certainly not you!

  3. That’s funny, at least you caught it and it wasn’t out there for a while LOL! I’ve been known to nod off like that too… Lord only knows how I haven’t posted some thing really goofy. πŸ™‚

Hope your review books are good this week. I’ve read some of Tracy and Laura Hickman’s stuff, but nothing recent.

    • K

I’m really looking forward to Hickmans’ book! I’ve never read them! I have to read it fast, though. Macmillan has silly expiration dates on their eARCs…

  4. Oh I am so jealous of your review line up! Sixth Grave is going to be awesome. I got such a laugh at you falling asleep and accidentally posting. I have a hard enough time falling asleep laying down, I’d never do it sitting up. But that is a real pain having to try and pull it back. I am so freaked about accidentally doing that I am constantly checking to make sure I haven’t published. It should have a box pop up and ask if you’re sure you want to publish.

I should just mine Kimba’s brain for all her knowledge… it’s a gold mine in there! She said to schedule it FIRST thing so you don’t accidentally publish it. Brilliant!

    • K

I wish you could pull back Feedburner but that was a no-go. I need to sit down and draw a map of what goes where and when so if this happens again… b/c yeah, it will happen again!

  5. Dude you got Darynda! So Jelly! How do you fall asleep at your computer? I am such a light sleeper and it takes me forever to nod off. I have published posts on accident before, I did it the other day when I was preloading and two got published at the beginning of Feb instead of March!

I’ve NEVER gotten Charley before so I was just excited that it was ON Edelweiss!! Trust me, it pays to work at a library – that’s how I got it πŸ™‚

  6. Why did you delete it? You could’ve just turned it back into draft mode. Then you would’ve still had it, but it wouldn’t be public anymore.

You got Sixth Grave?! And your reading 5th Grave?! Whatever. Ohhh but you got Kiss the Sky with my book husband, Conner. Read it!

DUDE! When I tell you I’m going to go buy a book you recommend, I DO IT! Conner better be all that (just kidding!)

And would you believe I still have Fifth Grave out from the library from when we finished Fourth Grave?!?!? Really! Us library folk totally suck with taking out books and never returning them – we don’t have late fees! EVIL!!

    • K

I’m on the library reserve list for Sixth Grave, too! I just FOUND the book on Edelweiss this weekend. And trust me, I’d never get Charley unless I worked at a library…

  7. Surprisingly I haven’t done anything stupid this week. I am learning how to skateboard, which could definitely be considered stupid (considering I’m not graceful or particularly good). I hope you enjoy your all your new (and awesome looking) books!

Longboard (or whatever they’re called)???? I want one of those!!! It’ll remind me of surfing in Cali (ahhhh, the good ‘ole days). I’m completely jealous!!!

    • K

I have a feeling you’ll be fine! She wasn’t all that in Foreplay. She was actually kind of annoying if I remember correctly… Sophie Jordan is an awesome writer so I hope you enjoy it!!!!

  8. Idk how people fall asleep on their computers. I can’t fall asleep anywhere but my bed and even that takes some time lol. However, I have ended up publishing review posts without the reviews, but at least I cought it early on *phew* xD

Great books you got there! Unswept has my undivided attention and I don’t even know what it’s about πŸ˜€

  9. Tee Hee, If anything, it made me giggle now. I am ueber-careful with my laptop but now so much because of posts, but I’m so protective of it because I don’t want anything to happen to it … falling down etc. Done that and payed the price. I’ve had the cat push buttons on it though and sending half-written emails :)Have a great week and Happy Reading!

  10. What stupid thing(s) did you do this past week?

I received my very first ARC and although the story had seemed to be interesting, it turned out to be a disastrously-written book, and I haven’t got the faintest clue what to do. I should post the review on Goodreads and Amazon but I don’t want to cause her a damage in revenue if some people don’t buy it because I detailed how bad it is or even disappoint her, especially in regards to that this is her first book, but I swear the only good thing is the basic story.

By the way, as many of the prior commenters, I also often forget to add all the important informations before I publish a post.
