The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

In the over two years that I’ve been blogging, I never took a blogging break.  Well, one where I actually planned the break.  I’ll tell ya, it is nice to take a break and step back from the blog.  It’s with fresh eyes I can look at my blog; it’s like I’m opening the windows in the house after a long winter break.  *sigh*

HUGE NEWS!  I’ve decided to spend the entire month of April (and possibly May, we’ll see) not taking any review books.  I have a few books still trickling in from requests and one book I HAD to have because I’ve been anxiously waiting for it.  But other than that, no more asking for review books from NetGalley or Edelweiss until May.  One good feature about Edelweiss is that I can mark books I want to request so I can go back and nab them later.  NetGalley doesn’t have that option for me but I’m sure I could do it with Goodreads if I’m feeling adventurous.

I highly recommend signing up for the Clean Sweep ARC Challenge starting May 1st and continuing the entire month.  This is my challenge to dominate and conquer.  I will not be denied my victory over my ARC copies [insert maniacal laughter here].

This fabulous challenge is hosted by Kimba of Caffeinated Book Reviewer fame and Angie at Angela’s Anxious Life.  Go HERE to check out all the details and to sign up.

  1. Glad your brain is better! 😉 I love my bloggy break and constantly contemplate another, even though it’s a lot less stressful now. Just getting completely away from it for a few days feels so good. No review books, huh? We’ll see … ;P

If only I’d known the magic of bloggy breaks before…

And I’ve seriously only requested that one book this month so far – no tours, no nothing! 😀 I rock (hee, hee)

  2. I was just feeling this morning that I need a blogging break. Might have to plan one for week after next or something. Kudos on not getting any review books for the month. I’ll get Nova & Quinton at some point. I’ve requested it for review, but if I don’t get it there I’ll buy it. Hope you have a great week!

Spring is great for the break b/c then you can open the windows, clean the house and then sit and read. I think I might have to take another break!!

I say do it! To heck with the kids! They can fend for themselves. If they get hungry, they’ll figure out how to use the microwave soon enough 😀

  3. love the cover of fiendish!
I have been wanting to take a break from the blog for a week but I haven’t had a chance to do it yet. I usually have a lot more free time in the summer so when I do take the break I want it to be on the blog and in real life, just to get away from it all for a while.

I have stopped taking review requests from authors, I would love to read all the books but it’s just not possible, that’s how I came up with my Author’s Spotlight Feature instead of reading the book i asked if they want me to promote it figure if I can’t read it maybe someone else will.

I try so hard not to request from Netgalley and Edelweiss, I didn’t realize you can hold them, that might be good for me or extremely dangerous 😉

    Have a great week

The author’s spotlight IS a great idea and I’m sure the authors really appreciate it. NG and Edelweiss are total time sucks and extremely dangerous!! I only take books I WILL read so I had to stop and reign it in 🙂

  4. My husband was just talking to me this past week about scheduling a week for a break. I did take yesterday off and it was fantastic! Love the look of Fiendish. I will have to check that one out. I am also taking a break from accepting reviews and hoping to get caught up with NetGalley during the challenge. I just signed up for Edelweiss but haven’t had the chance to really take a look around yet. Happy reading and congratulations on taking a break and enjoying it. 🙂

Edelweiss is a beast and I only use it b/c it’s “librarian” friendly. I was never approved for anything before I started working at the library. Kimba is always approved, tho 🙂 Just a heads up!!!

*waves* HI!!!! Hope the warmth has helped kicked the cold out of your system finally *hack, hack*!!

  5. Blogging breaks are definitely good to have; I think we all need one now and again.

I’m signed up for the ACR challenge also, I need it. 😛 Good luck with not taking or requesting any more review books for the next month. You can do it!

  6. I’m doing a good job of staying away from NG and Ed so far only I have problem with review request and I need to learn how to say no to them. I hope you’ll enjoy and read all the books you wish to read 🙂 Great post 🙂

  7. Good luck with the break, I’m sure it will be refreshing! Fiendish looks kinda freaky, and I hope you like Moth & Spark. I heard good things about that one but it’s been slow going for me, so I read something else- I’m going to try and finish it though. Might be just me…

    Have a great week!

As busy and as long as you’ve been blogging, I’m surprised you haven’t!! C’mon, you can fit a week in 🙂 You know you want to – come to the dark side!!!

I picked up Darkworld when I saw Christy nab it b/c it sounds fantastic!! Yeah, they are both ones I’m completely looking forward to!!

    • K

Oh, yeah! And actually, I couldn’t physically do the blog! My head was letting my eyes work (stupid brain!) 🙂

    • K

Well, if you saw my TBR of review books alone, you’d croak! I went a little book happy about 2 months ago thinking I needed books to read and oops, they all fell in the same month. I didn’t request them all that way, it just worked out that way. It’s a mess o.O
