I was thiiiiiiiiss close to not even doing a Sunday Post today.  There really isn’t much going on around here.  Just chugging along…

Jake’s homeschool is all set up and ready to go.  We switched from K12 to Connections Academy (if you know anything about free online public school programs).  I just need to go shopping for new “classroom” decorations.  He’s going into third grade so I think he’s going to be in for a surprise for how much harder it’s going to be 😉

  • This is freakin’ awesome!  You know those “Choose Your Own Adventure” books?!  Well, Neil Patrick Harris, Dr. Horrible himself, has written “Choose Your Own Autobiography” using his own life!  I loved reading this excerpt because it read just like how he talks – hysterical!!!  I especially enjoyed Neil sharing his family life…. awwwww….  I love the man!!!  Click the button below to go to the excerpt on Crown Publishing’s website.  I could’ve embedded the excerpt but that felt too close to stealing 😉

  1. That’s awesome, I kinda wish we were homeschooling our kids. We’ve thought about it… I almost didn’t do a Post either, I had some bookish stuff going on but life has been so busy… then decided at the last minite, oh why not? LOL.

I remember those Choose Your Own adventure books. That’s a fun idea, I’ll check that out!

If you EVER have any questions about homeschooling, let me know! Michigan has two options for free online public school – K12 and Connections Academy and they send you everything you need, even computers! They’ll also reimburse internet fees (although I don’t ask for that). I do it b/c our school system sucks dishwater. I did K12 last year but I switched to Connections this year b/c their special ed program is better.

      • Thanks Kristin, that’s great to know. My wife and I have seriously considered doing it but have not taken the plunge- our school system is pretty good, and the music program is great which our girls are into, but we just worry about the schools in general and what kids run into there. 🙂

I will look into those programs, thanks!

  2. It has been very slow around my house also. Kids go back to school in 2 weeks. Thought of home schooling but Ryan needs his therapies from the school that my insurance and we can’t provide. I think home school is a fantastic program and I am amazed at people who do it!

I love Choose your own adventure how fun to do it as an autobiography.

Have a great week, Kristin and Happy Reading!

I HEAR you on the therapies!! Our school system’s special ed program doesn’t train their para-pros in autism or anything sensory. And the head office kept moving therapists around the schools so there was no consistency for Jake. Let alone every year he had a new Para-pro (yikes!).

Our online school has to follow our IEP and do online therapies over the video. Jake doesn’t like the video so they’ll work with him if he gets too over excited. It’s a lot of work for ME but I like knowing what they’re doing and reinforcing it all during the day.

      UGH… a lot of work… tee, hee…

  3. Mel Thomas

The Midnight Liaisons series by Jessica Sims is made of awesome. Hope you enjoy the hell out of it. 🙂

Sweet!! I’m jumping on it quick, then!! I’m just missing one but I think I can manage to buy that one 😉

I just laughed at the cover of the book – he just cracks me up (“I’m not wearing any pants…”)
