Sunday Post #51: I’m Still Getting Caught Up

Posted June 28, 2015 in Meme / 16 Comments

The Sunday PostThe Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

I’m going to look like the WORST blogger in history this week.  It’s been a while since I’ve looked at Edelweiss so I needed to go in, grab, and get out before some books disappeared on me.  Don’t even talk to me about my % average in NetGalley… it ain’t good.  I WILL get back above 80%!  Yes, it will happen before the close of 2015.  I think I feel a reading challenge coming on… unless someone else already thought of it.  Hmmmm, got to go Google that one.

Speaking of NetGalley…

I received a new badge the other day.  I’m debating displaying it on my sidebar.  Do you display yours?  Is it showing off if I do?

And now for a little knowledge…

It’s been a while since SEO has been front and center in every blogger’s thoughts.  Is it because everyone “gets it”?  Or is it because we all gave up?  Me?  I always try to remember to put “Alt Text” on my images.  I also write short and specific blog post titles.  I’m pretty sure I’ve authenticated my blog and identity with Google.  But I watch for articles on SEO.

One of my favorite newsletters is from Hubspot Blogs.  They have a few different ones but I find some great information in the marketing blog.  I LOVE this article, “9 SEO Tactics That Just Don’t Work Anymore“, but not for the obvious reasons.  There are fantastically geeky links in this article!!!  For instance, I can geek all day on the Panda and Penguin Algorithm Updates.  You might want to pack a lunch if you’re up for tackling Google’s Webmaster Guideline’s.

If you read this article, you could be dangerous like me – I know a little about a lot of things, enough to get me in trouble.

What I Read This Week

I got stuck in two books but they’re review books.  One is for NetGalley so I HAVE to finish it… UGH…

New Books

I purchased “Own the Wind” by Kristen Ashley for only 99⊄ on Amazon!  Thanks for the recommendation, Geeky!!  Check out her post about book-crack.  It’s real, folks, and it could happen to you 🙂

Here’s where I go to Hell in a handbasket…

Fates and Furies The Drafter dirty thoughts

primal heat The Devils Engine novice

Public Enemies Velvet Undercover Silver in the Blood

Dream Strider firewalker Ice Like Fire

Thank you to Penguin Random House, Macmillan, Bloomsbury USA, and Harper Collins!

Want to see something both funny and sad?  Obviously I can’t count because if you look down at my Related Posts, you’ll see that last week’s Sunday Post was number 49….  and so was the one back in October.  I knew I needed that one brain cell for something…

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog…this is my first visit to yours, and I’m liking what I see. The decor, the blog title, the promise of fun to come….and someone else addicted to NetGalley…LOL.

I have been eyeing Fate and Furies….enjoy your books! Have a great week.

  2. I’m kind of a newbie blogger and I’m sure my percentage on Net galley is FAR from flawless hehe I hope I can get it up soon but the books I’ve been reading just weren’t for me. If that makes sense? As far as showing your badge, I usually don’t because I don’t want to clutter my sidebar BUT it’s yours and it’s something you earned so it’s all up to you. 😉 I love all of your books for this week. ♡♡

  3. I am working on 80% I am doing the Netgalley/Edelwiess Challenge that is suppose to help with the ratio. Also the challenge I co-host is great for getting those netgalley books read 🙂

You did get a few awesome books some I have seen around but didn’t request because I just have so many.

I try with SEO but I have a lot of fixing to do which I am saving for the next Bloggiesta 🙂

Have a great week, Kristin! Happy Reading!

  4. Nice t see you back! Can you believe I’ve never done Netgalley/ Edelweiss? I’m so tempted but can barely keep up with my reads now. 🙂 Still… one of these days.

The Drafter looks good, I like the futuristic element. Have an awesome week!

  5. Don’t worry, I already posted the same pictures twice on my blog and never realized it until recently ! Every time I try to get my badge on Netgalley, the link comes up blank ; I e-mailed them about that, they never answered, so I gave up and just don’t care. But I’m not trying to get more books to review, so if you are, it might be a good thing to show it in your sidebar. That Novice cover looks a lot like those of Throne of glass 😉 Enjoy your great book haul and your week !

  6. Every time I try to take a break from NetGalley it gives an evil laugh and all of a sudden gets like 20 books that I absolutely must have. I’ve been slowing things down lately and things have gotten much better but that’s not going to fix the damage from the last year anytime soon! So many books! I don’t think it’s bragging if you put your NetGalley badges on your blog. If I ever get 80% that might be my header! Have a great week!

  7. I got a new badge as well and yes I do put mine in my sidebar.

I can relate to the feeling that you’re a bit overwhelmed as I’m very much the same. I’m slowly catching up though!

  8. Oh wow, what a haul! I feel your pain though, sometimes you just want ALL the books. It cannot be helped 😉 Also, I’d put the badge up! I usually put stuff like that on one page, but I wouldn’t think it was weird on a sidebar. As for SEO… you can just sign me up for the “gave up” camp. I feel like no matter HOW many articles I read and no matter how much I learn about all other website-related stuff, SEO looks like some other language to me 😉 Hope you enjoy all these fabulous new books 😀
