I’ve been inspired! Felicia from The Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog and Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About host #FitReaders and encourage us all to get up out of our reading nooks 30 minutes a day to walk, run, swim, crawl, whatever!! For all the details, go HERE or click the button above.
Well, I went and did it. I signed up for my first 5K. It’s on August 15th, exactly one week after I’ve completed the Couch to 5K training program. My neighbor, who is also big into running, talked me into this particular run because it is local, over flat terrain, and basically a fun run. It’s sponsored by Orthopedic Associates so if I happen to break my leg(s), I know I’m in the right place to get great care 🙂
Now, I don’t have a FitBit, but I do have a VivoFit2 (it’s Garmin’s waterproof fitness watch). We won’t get into why I have it; let’s just say it’s a hand-me-down from hubs. Here are my steps last week. You can tell which days I run and which days I sit on my butt:
Saturday – 4,581
Sunday – 10,219
Monday – 4,429
Tuesday – 9,037 (I ran with my dog so it was a short run)
Wednesday – 4,129
Thursday – 10,170
Finally, I wanted to share some more of my gear. First, and most important, my shoes. I didn’t include these last time because they are kind of a no-brainer. But I do have two pairs of shoes, the ones I started with and the new ones. I plan to rotate them but I literally just got my new blue ones and they are sooooo pretty (pets shoes).
Because I’m old (46) and have never in my life been a “runner”, I need help after a run. That’s where this stuff comes in handy. The little green ball in the lower left corner is a Due North Foot Rubz Foot, Hand, and Back Massage Ball. Next to that is my Trigger Point Performance The Grid Revolutionary Foam Roller. I use it loosen up my tight muscles after a run. Last, on the right, is my $4.99 hot/cold pad from Target. This is my best friend for my knees and ankles 🙂
Have you been inspired yet? I know it is HOT out but maybe, next week, park the car just a little farther out in the parking lot? It’ll mean less scratches on your car doors!!!
