Sunday Post #54: Are We There Yet?

The Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

The weather here in Michigan has turned hot and humid.  Blech 😛  And there’s a nasty cold going around our area.  My son and hubs have it but I’ve dodged it (knocking on head).

I went to Ohio last weekend to visit my parents.  I managed to only gain one pound despite fitting in food from Longhorn’s, Cheesecake Factory, bagels from Einstein Bros, and donuts from Krispy Kreme.  And don’t forget the Starbucks on the road.  Yeah…  we only have Starbucks where we live so I kind of binge on everything else when I go home.  It’s not pretty…

Word is we’re getting a Dunkin Donuts, though!  Down with Tim Hortons!!!!  Blech, again (Sorry, Canadians)!

Thank you to HarperCollins and Penguin Random House!

How was your book week?  Do you have a restaurant guilty pleasure (like my many)??

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. My son got sick too. I better not get it! We used to have a Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme, but they were no match for our little local place. They get lines in the drive through going down the street. It’s like crack. And they have the best ice! Damn, now I’m craving one. I know they’d be busy right now though… yes, at midnight. I still need a coconut cake because of Kimba’s post. lol. Anyway, enjoy your books. I want that dress on the Sophie Jordan book soooo bad.

See, we have nothing local that’s good. Back in El Cajon, CA, there was Frozen Yogurt we’d wait out the door for. Damn, we miss that place all the time!!!

  2. Krispy Kreme- love that place. I can eat those chocolate glazed donuts all day. Good thing it’s across town or I’d be there all the time. 🙂 Dunkin Donuts has good coffee too.

I like Longhorn’s but haven’t been to a Cheesecake Factory. Those places all sound good. And yes, summer is here in Michigan now, isn’t it? Hot!

    Have a great weekend. 🙂

There are literally NO Cheesecake Factories in the entire state of Michigan – none, zilch, nada!! Trust me, I looked. Not even in Somerset Collection!! If you get over to Indiana or Illinois, check the place out. I think you’d like it 😉

  3. I can’t believe it’s so hot and people are getting cold, just not right..hope you can avoid it! It’s really hot and humid here in Missouri as well..blah. You got some good books. I so want that Sophie Jordan book!

OMG – Missouri has got to be STEAMING!!! That state is humid!!! Such a pretty state – I loved Johnson Shut-ins – I was there before they got destroyed 🙁 So much fun sliding on my butt!!!

Hope your AC is working well this week!!!

WAAAAAHHHH, we don’t Reese’s Pieces donuts!!!! I just get the dozen glazed – those are awesome enough for me 😀

Reese’s Pieces do sound very good right now, though… *shakes fists at you* stupid diet!!!

I can’t wait to start it! I just have to finish the last Crown and Key book first – too many great books right now!!!

  4. I would cry if we didn’t have a Dunkin Donuts by us. We have one around every corner 🙂 but I am also a huge fan of Starbucks and Wawa Coffee! I am a COFFEE Drinker, I like the taste of it more than the caffeine since the caffeine doesn’t do anything for me anymore.

Sorry your family isn’t feeling well, I hope they feel better soon,

I hope you have a great week Kristin! Happy Reading! oxox

We have Starbucks so I’m okay – got my gold card so I rack up my Stars 🙂 Just no donuts for me, which is probably a good thing. Again, have a fab vacation with your family!!!

I actually almost passed up Ronnie Douglas until I looked into it and it’s actually Melissa Marr! I guess she used to run a biker bar and she’s writing from that experience. She wanted to keep her new adult separate from her YA. Got me curious!!

  5. Yes! I love food – so most restaurants are my downfall. But Chipotle is my guilty pleasure! so good!!! I live in Ohio, so I feel ya with the hot and humid – although it’s preferable to the chilly weather we had before this. Hope you enjoyed your time in Ohio!!

  6. Yuck! I hate hot and humid weather and it gets like that in Australia in summer in parts of the country.

As for guilty pleasures, I’m celiac so am limited as to what I can enjoy. I used to love cheesecake, KFC etc but of course KFC is out now and I really only eat cheesecake when my mum make a gluten-free one for my birthday.
