The Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Quiet week here.  I posted a ton of reviews this week.  I’m getting that NetGalley review ratio back up closer to 80%.  Then I get the dreaded email from a publicist about a good book or an email from NetGalley itself and it’s a book I’ve thought about before and it says, “Read Now”….

One step forward, two steps back.

It’s all good, though.  There are far worse things in life, right?!?!?!?!

Bright, Shiny New Books

Even Vampires Get the Blues
for review
Escaping Reality
for review

Missing Dixie (Neon Dreams #3) by Caisey Quinn (cover reveal coming next week!)

If you’re traveling for vacation be safe!  Have a fantastic week…

Wow, someone needs to get….. jeez, I’m NOT going there!! But dude, throwing curses so early in the morning. At least wait until I finish my coffee so I can toss a coherent one back!

And no, I don’t only care about traveling folks, but dude, my town is a thoroughfare for those folk who drive from Detroit up north to their cabins on the lake. I freakin’ dodge them on my way to Starbucks!!! And no offense to the Canadians, but they are horrible drivers once they get over here. So it’s like, YES, vacation travelers, please drive safe. I don’t want to run y’all off the road. We are a no-fault state up to a point 😉 *slurp, slurp my coffee*

Really? HUMOR?!?!? Yay!! That’s fantastic! This is my first book by her but I’ve always wanted to read her books. The publicist kind of talked me into it b/c she said it could be read standalone. I wasn’t expecting a smidge of humor so that’s a bonus! Thanks!!!

I’m just getting BACK to PNR and with so many authors I haven’t read before, I will be busy for a while.

  1. Since I’m on vacation in another week, I thank you for your well-wishes. {grin}

That 80% target (and the badge that goes with it) is a tough target — particularly when you first sign up. If you’ve only been approved for 2 books, the only way you can get to 80% is to review them both! Now that I have gotten there, I’m trying to be a bit conservative in taking too many review books. But you are absolutely right when you say that it is so easy to be tempted when you read those e-mails!

CONGRATULATIONS on your %!!! See, now you actually have a solid foundation to work with and a great attitude – no problems 😀

  2. Wow! I keep getting the Jones books but have not reviewed her in years and don’t request them. I don’t like them.
I cannot seem to get them to stop sending them.
I have other publishers that keep sending me series I have never read, nor reviewed.

We have lots of drivers here in Vacationland as well. The Canadians do seem more confused when they arrive here, or maybe we note it more because the plates are in French. I think people on vacation are often lost or have screaming kids in the car. My worries are the people of the cruise ships who seem to not be able to think when they are on a busy street with tons of delivery trucks parked in the median, others “jay” walking, and construction. It is often a combo of line of sight diminishment from the trucks and people crossing without thinking or while texting that makes it really frustrating.

Also people who are stoned and who decide to walk up the middle of a street.

Bwahahahaha!!! I keep getting cozy mysteries and I don’t even read those!!!! I feel so guilty when I get those b/c I feel like I need to find a good home for them.

OMG!! I can’t even imagine that nonsense!!! You must be in Southern Maine and I DO NOT envy you!!! When I lived in Calais, I never ventured down that way in the summer… you just don’t!!!

    • K

Don’t. Do. It….. just don’t!!! I know you!! You have no place to put reviews!!! I want more discussions out of you!!! 😉

    • K

Well, crap, girl!!! I ALWAYS wish you well old friend!! Ugh, not old friend, but longtime friend!! Jeez, I’m just burying myself this week, aren’t I!?!?!?! 😀

  3. I’ve been thinking of taking the Netgalley plunge, but have not yet. One of these days. LOL about the driving discussion- I remember going up 75 backin the day heading up north- now I’m on the west side and 131 is a bit better but gets SO busy coming home on Sunday nights. Good grief. And Traverse City is so busy now with traffic, even in non- peak times. Sigh.

    🙂

And this is why I wish all the travelers luck – the roads aren’t built big enough for stupid people!! And Traverse City IS the place to be!!!

    • K

Ya know, you and everyone else is making me feel SOOOOO much better about my ratio!! I think there are just some older books I won’t get to reading and that will be okay 🙂 Thanks!!!

    • K

I will not answer the email… I will not answer the email… I will not answer the email…. 😉

  4. Ah, temptation, temptation… I’m not even setting foot (so to speak) on Netgalley until my ratio reaches a number I like, so I’m not tempted. It’s not like I haven’t got any book to read on my tablet, huh ? I’m trying to make my life simpler, accumulating unread books is not the way to get there. So, good luck with temptation ! By the way, my ratio is 87%, ha ha ! 😉
