I love Valentine’s Day, if only to watch the men in the stores look for gifts for their sweethearts.  I swear, I never know if I should get my hubs something or not.  This year I decided to just make him some cupcakes and get him a card.  I got my son this plush Mario power-up that makes sounds effects from the game.  It was the most obnoxious thing on the drive home.  Coolest thing ever, though.

I finally ended up getting a cold from my family.  It really was inevitable.

I won’t be around next weekend because we are going to Great Wolf Lodge for a day and celebrating my birthday on the weekend with my family in Cleveland.  I hope we’re all healthy by then 🙂

In Case You Didn’t Notice…

In case you missed it, Sherrilyn Kenyon is suing Cassandra Clare for copyright infringement, alleging Clare stole her idea of the Shadowhunters from Kenyon’s Dark Hunters.  Clare responded on Friday that she expects the suit will be dismissed in court.  I’ve read most all the Dark Hunter books and only the first Mortal Instruments book.  I don’t remember any similarities between the two… do you??

Oops…

Last week, I accidentally had three promos scheduled.  Granted, one was actually a review of a book I absolutely loved.  But I wanted to apologize for the crappy scheduling on my part.  I personally don’t like promos but I do participate in them when I feel strongly enough about them or I think they are pretty unique.  That’s what happened last week – they all just hit in the same week.

I will say that I have only one upcoming blog tour scheduled and it’s for a book that is set in Detroit and is pretty awesome.  I’ve been supporting the book and author for a long time now and I love that she’s written a book that delves into the people of Detroit.  Oh, my poor Detroit….

Shadow Sight is the first book in this UF series and it was free on Amazon.  Melanie from Hot Listens did a review of a book in the series recently and she made it sound really good 🙂

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of “happily ever after” books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It’s for her family’s sake. When not reading, she’s homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. Ugh, sorry to hear you’re sick as well Kristin, but do hope you’re over it by next week when you go away. (Happy birthday in advance, by the way!)

Oh and as for the chocolates… I hope you score big on Valentine’s Day!

    • Would you believe I gave up Chocolate!!! I KNOW! But I was actually paying attention to my intake of chocolate and my migraines and wouldn’t you know it… yep, you got it, chocolate was causing some of them! So now I do small doses of the very good stuff 😉

Btw – can I move in with you? It’s zero degrees here today…

  2. This is the best Valentine’s Day rename I’ve seen yet, haha. And I love that you love watching the men in stores look for gifts lol. Cupcakes and a card sounds like a great gift. I also got Shadow Sight while it was free! But I don’t know anything about it. It just seemed like my kind of book, so I’m glad you heard it’s good. Feel better and happy early birthday 🙂

  3. Happy Valentine’s Day! it is always humorous to see guys flower shopping at the last minute- the flower section at Meijers becomes pretty frickin popular LOL. Hope you guys have a good weekend – and enjoy next weekend! I love Great Wolf Lodge!

I love coming across Michigan authors and/ or books set here, especially in Detroit. Will have to check that out…

And yes about the weather! Dang it’s been cold. I think where I am is more or less straight across from you guys, just on the other side of the state. Although I’m in Saginaw this weekend. it’s like 5 degrees LOL.

  4. Happy Valentine’s Day! I kind-of gave up on Valentine’s Day a view years back since I never got something back from my man. And he pretty much made it clear that he thought this holiday was stupid.. LOL!! Ah well.. he gave me a beautiful sculpture one year.. I think that makes up for all the other years without getting something! We’re having a nice breakfast together so that’s something! LOL!!
I just read about that lawsuit.. I’m a little surprised to be honest. I read both series but don’t find it all to similar. The only difference is that Clare’s books seem to be more popular and are being made into a TV series.
Your new books look amazing Kristen. Happy reading 😉

    • I know (about that lawsuit)!! I’m glad you chimed in and that you read both – I didn’t see anything that’s any more the same than, say, any vampire romance!

Your man sounds like mine!! I almost want to just tell mine not to even bother with the card anymore b/c it’s just a waste of paper for a few seconds. Just give me a hug 🙂

    • OOOO, I don’t know about Power Play!!! I will definitely add it and stalk the author!!! NO, it’s Titans by Victoria Scott. Victoria has actually reached out to me b/c she knew I lived outside Detroit and I hooked her up with a bigger blog to interview her. I’m almost done with the book and it’s a good YA girl kickass book.

But this girl needs some hot romance, too 😉 tee, hee!!! Thanks!!!!

  5. Sorry to hear you got sick! The cold that’s going around is a bad one. Half of my office has been sick and I’m afraid I might’ve gotten it back again. *sigh* I hope you feel better soon and that you have a great birthday trip! I got Never Let You Go this week, too! I can’t wait to see what happens next. I really enjoyed Never Tear Us Apart.

    Have a great week!

  6. Happy Valentine’s Day! I sorry you aren’t feeling well! I think my sinuses are confused, the pressure in my head is annoying and it feels like allergies! Think the weather needs to get it together!

I heard Great Wolf is a lot of fun, I wanted to go over the weekend but we can never seem to find a weekend free. I hope you guys have fun!. You need to tell me where you got the Mario, my son would love that even if it is obnoxious! lol

Have a great week, Kristin! Happy Reading! ox

    • Ya know, I found it at our local mega grocery store (Meijers) but I’m sure ToysRUs has it. Turns out Jake loves it – Freakin’ power up noise all day long, though 😉

Hey, have you heard anything about a season 2 of Sonic yet??? I’ve been trolling but haven’t seen anything yet 🙁

    • Duuude, I freaked when I saw Heartless on Macmillan in Edelweiss! You and your hubs are so cool!! Valentine’s day is so lame – we should celebrate everyday!! Yeah, I have no clue about gifts, either. I would have gone with “Bake something” 🙂

  7. I hope you have a great Birthday-and loads of fun at the Lodge!! That’s a shame about Sherrilyn Kenyon’s suit, I haven’t read Cassandra Clare at all so I really can’t say. Hope you have a better week with your scheduled posts, I was without internet for a week, and I was going NUTS!! LOL
