Sunday Post #78: Well, Go Figure

The Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Guess what?  I’m here!  Master of the obvious, huh?  Long story short, son still sick last Monday, I joined in on the fun, afraid of spreading the “love” to my parents we cancelled our weekend away.  Boo hoo.

Off the books…

Y’all know I have an odd love of a few cartoons.  One of my favorites, “Gravity Falls“, had it’s finale last Monday and it kind of blew my mind.  Besides the fact that Disney would “allow” it’s #1 cartoon to only be set for a finite 2 seasons and NO MORE than that, this series always had “family” as the main message and was still hugely popular.  It could have been the “X-Files”-like feel to the show or the fact that it was just plain freakin’ smart.  I’ve been eating up interviews with it’s creator like candy these past few days (HERE and HERE).  I mean, who else gets a crazy from “Twin Peaks” to drive his kids home???   Perfection…

So I might have been feeling sorry for my lame self and went Amazon cray-cray.  I don’t know if the sale prices are still available but they were good prices 🙂

Okay, I REALLY dislike books with cliff hangers but lookie here!  I was interested in Forgetting August until I heard it had a killer ending but I was able to snag both books so I gave it green lights.

Have a wonderful week!

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. Oh I’m sorry about your son still being sick, Kristin. That really stinks.
And a cartoon ended! Oh no! 🙁 At least it ended well though!
Those J.L Berg covers are so pretty! I want to read them just for that, but I’ll wait to see what you think of them. Romance novels having cliffhangers kill me too, so I feel you!
Have a lovely week, Kristin and I hope the little one feels better!

    • We are getting there 🙂 We just have the hanger-ons now! I need a trip down to your locale to get some Vitamin D to actually kick this cold in the butt!!

I KNOW about those JL Berg covers! I love the red hair vs. the blue and pink colors – it had nothing to do with actually looking at the synopsis of the books, nothing at all 😉

  2. Hey get better! Sorry you missed your weekend away… that sucks. There’s a lot of crap going around… how about this warm up? LOL it’s not exactly balmy but it was nice over here yesterday. Hope it was over in your neck of the woods too…

I haven’t heard of that cartoon but it looks fun. 🙂

  3. I hope you and your son feel better soon. I’ve never heard of that show, but it sounds great. I’ll have to add it to my list of things to watch. (I’m a sucker for cartoons, too!) The books you got look great. I have to go peruse them on Amazon, because…well…books! ;D Hope you feel better this week and happy reading!

  4. I hope you’re son is feeling better!
I don’t have cable so I didn’t even know about this show :/ Glad to hear it was really good since last I saw of the channel, the shows weren’t as great as back in the day.
I have The Return and have yet to read it! I started it and I was liking it but I have no idea why I put it on hold :/ I hope you like it!!

  5. I’m sorry you had to cancel your weekend away because of sickness. Not fun! Everyone feel better soon!!! I have not heard of this cartoon – and that is interesting Disney only set it up for two seasons.

Yay for amazon shopping, especially with such good prices.
