Sunday Post #80: What? Another New Outfit?

The Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Go figure, I’m just like a woman.  I’ve been known to go through three different outfits in one day, possibly more if the occasion calls for it.  I will tell you, though, my husband is right there with me, if not worse.

So of course I’m going to change my blog’s look.  It’s only natural.  Annnnnd since the previous orangey-purpley look was to get me through winter, this was due.  It was a lazy, incomplete look.  This new one came to me after I finally, FINALLY settled on a color palette.  Pinterest is a very good friend of mine!

Very soon I will opening my own graphic design store.  I’ve already done some work for a few clients, I just need to open my shop.  Specifically, I have adjective icons to sell.  These are icons that complement icons you may already own.  Below are some examples – the blue heart is just a watermark so no one steals and uses these without my knowledge 😉

Stay tuned…

I had some heartbreaking news this week… another of my favorite cartoons has bit the dust!  This time, it’s all Disney’s fault (grrrr).  If you care, you can check out my Tumblr because that’s where I reblog and follow all that nonsense.  Or just go HERE.

… and yes, I’ve signed the petitions.

Around the Blogosphere

I received my first package in the Xoxperts program this week and it is pretty awesome!  I’m looking forward to No One Knows by J.T. Ellison because it’s a little out of my norm – I don’t read too many suspense novels.

Darkness by Karen Robards

Her Forever Hero (Unexpected Heroes #3) by Melody Anne

The Study of Seduction (Sinful Suitors #2) by Sabrina Jeffries

I picked up Heir to the Sky after I heard the publicist discuss the book during a webinar.

Sorry for the lackluster post.  I’ve been busy this weekend working on switching over my design.. phew, still have more to do!

Have a great week!

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. Some nice new books there Kristin and good work on reworking the blog. Mine hasn’t been changed for ages and probably needs a work-over.

I love the icons by the way – they’re gorgeous and a great idea!

    • Thanks, Deborah! I think that’s the best part (and possibly worst part of my blog’s theme), is how easy it is to change up it’s theme.

    • OOOOoo, I thought you did your own design! Well, I did make this all myself with bits and pieces everywhere. I really should posts on how I did all this stuff… mostly using other people’s advice!! Seriously! It’s not hard!!

  2. Hey nice new look! I like it… and congrats on your impending shop business. I like those icons, especially the cliffhanger one. I’ll keep an eye out for those!

Sorry to hear about Wander over Yonder. What the frick Disney? I’ve never seen it but I hate it when shows get cancelled- there’s always fans that get screwed seems like. Bummer… 🙁

Hope the new reads are good…

  3. The design looks great, I would never think of mixing those colours together but it works perfectly. And that’s great news about your shop, I love your icons and use icon tags in my reviews so I’ll be keeping an eye on yours for sure 🙂

    • Pinterest baby! And I search both for color palettes all the time! It helps if you want to paint the house, too 🙂

  4. I love the new design, Kristin, it’s very pretty and easy on the eyes 🙂 Well done! And your graphics look great, too, I hope you’ll find a good place to sell them, and that it will take off nicely.
Your new books all look good, too. I have a Bookbox subscription, and I love it! It’s so nice to get a bookish present in the mail every month 🙂
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • It’s addicting, right?!?!?!?! Your design is so FUN, I can tell you love designing little graphics for your posts 🙂 I do, too!!!

    • OMG, I’m addicted to learning how to code now!! And you know, designing isn’t hard nowadays b/c there’s assets everywhere that you can buy for your own use. It just gets tricky when you sell them. There’s selling work for a client vs. selling for generating money… UGH! BTW, I saw you comment somewhere else that there were no Cons this year for you – I’m sorry. But I did see Moning was going to be at RAGT so you dodged a bullet there!!!

    • I LOVE your blog! Hands down, one of the BEST ones out there 🙂 Can I be just like you, please??? Honestly, I just hope I stay close to this one for a while 🙂

    • I’ve been busy and I’ll tell ya, this winter blues here in Michigan is hanging on in my head. I need me some bright sunshine and Vitamin D!!!

  5. WOAHHHH! Where am I? 😀
I’m seriously loving this header and color combo! It’s very calming and the stars background is lovely too!
And those little icons! I’ve been thinking of getting some for our own blog and let me know when you open your store will you? Hopefully, my credit card will be delivered by then!
Wohoo for all the great HR! I’m excited to see what you think of Heir of the Sky.
P.S I read and LOOOVED The Great Hunt though that ending hurt! Thanks for giving me the push! 😉
Happy reading and have a great week!

    • Freakin’ shocking, huh?! Ya know, my shop is just gonna be like what your girl does for you, just kind of Photoshop (or Illustrator) on demand. I just found that I could help peeps who don’t have that kind of software but want nice buttons, flavicons, blah, blah, blah. I buy all my graphics, I don’t draw 🙂

I’m so relieved you like The Great Hunt – I was so torn. It was so great, though, right?!?!? WE need our HEA now!!! 😉

  6. Love the new look!
    Those icons are super cute!
Pinterest is my go to when I look for Color Palettes. I have an entire board set up for them to look when I need colors. Sometimes I just can’t think of what I want something to look like and those colors always spark my creativity.

Did your son love the new Mario Maker Update? My son was counting down the days, he has been so busy working on one level, he is getting so good at it. That is just a really great game for kids.

I hope you have a great week Kristin, Enjoy all your new book! Happy Reading! Only a few more days till BEA I am looking forward to meeting you in person! ox

  7. I love the new look! The colors are just fab. I just went through a refresh a couple weeks ago. It’s so much work, but it’s fun, too. 🙂 I can’t wait to hear more about your icons. I’m using another set right now, but I’m loving the style of yours!

Hope you have a great week!

  8. I’m very excited to hear more about the adjective icons. The ones you showed would go with the ones I already have, but that kit I have only fits like 50% of my needs.

I’m dying to be an Xoxpert member, but I can’t figure out how the heck to be considered or how to join. I don’t know how it works.

    Have a great week!
