Sunday Post #90: Oh. You Have to Click the Schedule Button…

Posted June 5, 2016 in Meme / 21 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

My son is done with ALL his school work!  He was done with his classes a week ago but he had a few math worksheets he had to complete before he was officially done with all his work.  Michigan’s last day of school is June 10th but we’re done early!  Yay for online schooling!!  Oh, I know that no one in brick ‘n mortar schools are doing anything either.  Jake just doesn’t have to show up anywhere 🙂

I will be in the Cleveland area next week helping my parents do a garage sale.  Most likely I won’t be around the blogosphere much.

In case you missed it:

Book Bub ran a post earlier this month that I could actually relate to!  “18 Books That Stay With You Your Entire Life actually had many books that I have read, even though I became a “reader” late in life (try 38 year old).   My favorite?  A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle.   I read that story when I was, oh, 10 years old and I wanted to love science fiction as much as my parents did.

I only nabbed one book this week because I received an email from the publisher with a blurb about it in it and the synopsis sounded really intriguing.  There are about 4 or 5 other books I’m “watching” on Edelweiss.   I didn’t download them but I’ve marked them “Highly Anticipating”.  I want to read them, I don’t know if I’ll have time to.  I just can’t think of a better system to keep me from downloading books I’ll never get to…

I’m doing this a little early BUT I may not get a chance to do a Sunday Post next weekend…  E3, the gaming world’s equivalent to our BEA (or RT, or ALA) is coming up on June 14th – 16th.  Basically, my son will be tuned in all 3 days.

His channel of choice: Nintendo’s E3 dedicated channel.  Nintendo’s Treehouse will be broadcasting news live on this site.

Have a great week!

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

Finally, FINALLY fixed! After days lost trying to fix... ;)

  1. Yay for school being done. You’re being really smart to stay away from books you don’t think you have time to get to. I’m trying to do the same. I have one eARC and one audio ARC. I’m not working on either. I’m working on stuff I wanted personally. I’ll get to the ARCs next. I won’t get too far behind. Have fun in Cleveland. I need to do the garage sale thing too. Have a great weekend.

  2. Woohoo with being done with school and school work!! We are done this week – then I count down until the two munchkins start camp 🙂 738 Days looks so good- can’t wait to see what you think. I need to calm it down with ARCs and buying books. I have SO many!! Have a great week!!

    • That’s exactly what I’m doing… calming the heck down on my buying and grabbing ARCs! You know the feeling, too, huh??

  3. SCHOOL’S OUT! My kiddos release early, end of May, so we’ve been out for a week or so!

738 looks good! I’ve been hearing a lot about it lately so I might check it out! 🙂 Have a great week!

  4. My son finished up preschool a few weeks ago but he starts Kindergarten on August 1st. I really think our school system here is looking at year round schooling. Breaks are shorter and shorter every year! I am curious about homeschooling though. I’ve debated for a while now and still debating. I’m sure your son enjoys it! Hope you have a great week!

  5. E3 is awesome!!! Hopefully your son enjoys watching it. I am always amazing at how many cool new things they come up with each year. I kept thinking “There will never be anything as cool as that” then next year-BAM cooler stuff! Have a great summer!

  6. I’d love to go to E3 someday. I used to play a crapton of video games (now blogging takes all my time lol) and I think it’s be a blast! Thanks for the reminder. I love that screenshot pic. I wish they had more games for the WiiU but I guess they have a new console coming out… anyway enjoy the rummage sale. My mom and aunt always had a ton of those so I remember them from childhood… it was a summer thing. 🙂

  7. I am sure you are glad school is finishing up. Hope you have fun helping with the garage sale and that it is not to hot or anything. YAY, for E3 now if I could just afford to upgrade my ps3 to a ps4 I would be more thrilled about what is coming out…lol. I am missing out on so many games!

  8. Great that Jake’s finished early Kristin. I don’t have kids but some of my friends take their kids out of school early for the holidays if they’re finished their work. They’ll try to beat the holiday traffic by taking off early – which is sensible if the kids aren’t doing anything.

Hope the garage sale goes well.

  9. That’s cool your brother lives in downtown Cinci; I wonder if he heard any of the music. haha It was actually pretty good weather this year but it’s usually quite hot, yes, and it rained a lot more last year. This year had a bit of rain but the temperatures weren’t crazy high, so it made for a good Bunbury!

I hope you have a good time visiting your parents! And yay for your son being finished with school. Off to check out that ’18 Books…” article

  10. My kids finished with school on May 19. How is online school? Is it free? I love my kids school but freaking despise their homework with a passion. I spend so much time on homework now that I have 2 kids in school. And they are in kinder and 3rd grade, I can’t even imagine how worse it will get 🙁
That book looks really good, hope you like it!
