Sunday Post #91: Ummmm…

Posted June 19, 2016 in Meme / 30 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Last weekend never happened so I’ve got little personal to share.  The Cleveland Cavaliers (that’s the NBA finals, in case you really don’t care, tee hee) are playing tonight so you’ll know where I’ll be at 8pm est.  Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there 🙂

I’m sad to report that last week we lost the author of young adult suspense classics such as “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Killing Mr. Griffin” as well as “Hotel for Dogs”.  Popular author Lois Duncan passed away at her home last Wednesday, June 15th.

Unfortunately she was never able to see justice for her daughter, Kaitlyn, who was brutally murdered in 1989.  Kaitlyn’s murderer was never caught.

Click on the picture above for her full obituary from Publisher’s Weekly.

Around the Blogosphere

→ Felicia @ Geeky Blogger’s Book Blog wrote a hugely interesting post this week about audio book narrators and how to find them.  It’s something I never thought of until I met the narrators and heard the discussion myself!

→ COYER Challenge has a NEW HOME!!  They have their very own website dedicated to everything COYER!  Check it out HERE (it’s such a great site!!)

for review

So, I saw the movie “Saving Dory” on Friday.  It was pretty good.  The movie’s saving grace was it’s amazing animation and the ending.  Of course, any day at the movies with my hubs and son (and popcorn) is awesome, though.

I think even more exciting is the idea of Helen Mirren doing “Fast 8” – and she wants to do it!!!  I love that broad!!

Gotta end on the love…  have a great week, folks!

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. I heard about Lois Duncan’s passing. How sad! 🙁
Monstress looks great. I like that cover a lot!
And omg Helen Mirren in Fast & Furious?? That’s very exciting! She’ll be badass!
Thanks for making me crave movie popcorn! >.<

  2. Helen Mirren is a trip. I haven’t seen too many of those movies but I would see it just to see her shooting guns and stuff. And movie popcorn- even if the movie sucks the popcorn makes it worth it (even if I’m broke afterward).

    Good luck Cavs!

    • We had crying kids in our theater and it so didn’t matter – it was such a party and everyone was just happy to be at the movie! As long as they like popcorn, they’ll be good. Just a heads up, there’s a slow part towards the end that would make a good time to take them to the bathroom before the ending 😉

  3. The kids want to see Finding Dory, I think we are going to go next weekend. I never see movies opening weekend, I am not a fan of going to the movies, I don’t like a lot of people.

Thanks for sharing COYER, I am so excited for the website. I still have a few things to do but for now it is up and running 🙂

I hope you have a great week, Kristin! Happy Reading! ox

    • What?! You don’t like crowds? How the heck did you deal with BEA???? Ahhhhh!!!! 🙂 And your new site IS so nice – I love how organized you guys are (I’m dissecting it!)

    • OOOOO, Maggie Smith!! She’s a hoot, too!! But Helen in “Red” – she was such a crazy hoot in that movie, right?!?! If only I look half as good as she does at her age…. *sigh* 🙂

    • I actually binge read Big Rock and Mister O in a matter of days – they were hot and hysterical! I highly recommend both 😉 Give Freddy a big belly scratch from me!!

    • Lois Duncan was one of those authors whose books I would easily grab for teen readers looking for suspense when I worked at the library. Her books are awesome!!

    • I knew her as an author but I had no clue about her daughter until a friend wrote about it so I’d like to read that book she wrote, too!!!

  4. I’m glad you enjoyed Finding Dory. It’s hugely popular here in Australia. A friend of mine tried to go on the weekend but all of the sessions had sold out.

And do you believe Kristin, though I know I’ve looked it up a dozen times I still can’t remember what COYER means and will have to google it again!

  5. I’m not a basketball fan, but I’m very happy for the Cavs and all their fans. Let’s hope that they’ve broken the Cleveland curse and the other teams can start to do better. As a Browns fan, I’m praying for that. LOL. I have never read any of Lois Duncan’s books, but is always said to lose a literary icon. It was also sad to hear the story about her daughter. Hope you have a great week. 🙂

    • Ya know, I don’t like pro-basketball but I can’t help following the Cavs. Same with the Brownies (I’m surprised you’re not a Bengals fan, but it could go either way, right???). I LOVE that you’re a Browns fan!!! 🙂

  6. DH is a Browns fan. I didn’t watch much football before I started dating him. My brother is a Patriots fan and I couldn’t do that. My father was a Falcons fan, since we’re from Georgia. Truthfully, I’m of a college football fan. I root for the Florida State Seminoles. I grew up not too far from Tallahassee and many of my family went to FSU and some even taught there.
