You already are the answer!

Thousands of years ago, there were two Gems called Ruby and Sapphire who lived on the faraway Gem Homeworld planet. Even though one Gem could see into the future, neither could predict that their paths would come together in such an incredible way! This is the story of Garnet, the leader of the Crystal Gems, and how she came to live on planet Earth. Rebecca Sugar, creator of Steven Universe, tells this love story with plenty of warmth and humor.

Not your typical Waiting on Wednesday pick but let me explain…

I love children’s books.  I love the simplicity of the message they convey (if done well) and I’m a sucker for outstanding illustrations.

I also love certain cartoons.  There are some out there that are done really, really well.  Although it took me a few episodes to “get” what creator Rebecca Sugar was doing with her science fiction / family-centered cartoon, I adore the cartoon NOW.

The Answer, coming out in a few months, actually takes an episode and puts it into book format.  The episode is where Garnet, one of the three earth-bound Crystal Gems, tells Steven her story for his birthday.  It’s so cute because she excitedly wakes him up right at midnight to tell him the story.

stevenwakesupI could tell you what the “answer” is (and it’s NOT what the synopsis says it is), but that kind of spoils the entire story.  I will say it’s a wonderful message that is needed right NOW!!!  And my favorite cartoons have been on this wavelength all along.

The book’s illustrations are going to be different than the story art from the show.  Penguin/Cartoon Network Books actually have some pages up on Edelweiss and they are really pretty.  Here is one of them: 9780399541704_IL_5_0ec2b

What “grown up” book are you waiting on?  🙂

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. I’m mired so deeply in my bottomless TBR, that I’m only adding things I MUST read to it. I’m focusing on review books, series I’ve missed, and my own writing, so I’m trying not to look forward to anything else!

I really wanted to comment on the cartoon love, especially CN. I love pretty much every show on there, but especially We Bare Bears and Teen Titans Go! I am firmly of the opinion that watching and laughing at cartoons keep you young!

As for happily ever after, I’m not sure about “real life,” but I DO love my romantic fiction! 😸

    • I AGREE!!! Awww, thanks for commenting – another like-mind!!!! LOVE!!! I adore Teen Titans Go, too. I love that they can make fun of the fact that all the die-hard fans hate the re-boot. Ha! And We Bare Bears is still growing on me 🙂 The Burrito is my fave episode….
