Sunday Post #96: Beware the Blood and Gore in This Post

Posted August 7, 2016 in Meme / 14 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

I actually sat still and watched two movies last weekend – Man of Steel and Batman vs. Superman.  OMG!!  I loved both of these!!!  I thought Henry Cavill was spot on as the new Superman.  And Ben Affleck was NOT horrible as Batman.  I was so upset at the end of B vs. S.  I was screaming at my husband over the phone.  I won’t tell you what I was screaming about b/c it would give the story away but I was very upset.

This weekend, no more movies for me.  It’s Olympics time!!!  Oh, that US Water Polo team…  I don’t care that they lost Saturday.  They looked good losing….

Are you watching the Olympics?

What do you think of the new Goodreads Home Page?

Did your feedback page in NetGalley change?  I’m on a “Librarian Dashboard” and mine did.  I’m not sure I’m liking having two submit buttons.  My mind doesn’t work like that.  I’m more of a “one and done” kind of gal.

I had asked for It Ends With Us on Sunday night and Monday morning I was approved.  How does that happen?!?!?!  Even faster on Small Great Things: I asked for it on Friday morning and was approved by that afternoon.  Two different publishers approving super fast!  Amazing!!!!  And thank you to Simon & Schuster and Random House for both of those books!  Honestly, Penguin was just as fast on Rookie Move, too (THANK YOU!!!!).  And thank you to Macmillan and HarperCollins for sharing 😉

I’ve been listening to this song repeatedly for weeks now but I’m just now posting it because the video is horrifying.  I haven’t been able to get through it…  seriously!  This is not for the easily squeamish.  If you like a good blood-filled, gun toting, shoot ’em up, zombie-fest, then by all means, go for it!! It’s still a fantastic song…

Sorry if I scarred you….

What kind of pretties did you get this week?

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of “happily ever after” books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It’s for her family’s sake. When not reading, she’s homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. I love the Olympics, am watching quite a bit. And hating NBC’s coverage, but that’s nothing new. Sad that NBC will probably have the Olympics for the rest of my lifespan, and they suck at it. But I digress… 🙂

I haven’t seen any of the DC movies but I’m geeked for Suicide Squad, bad reviews or not. That’s the one i want to see. And I haven’t checked out the new Goodreads yet, but I keep seeing reactions on Twitter. I have to check it out…

  2. Mmmhmm … I enjoy watching swimming. My son used to swim competitively and it was a glorious sight whenever their college age coaches would participate. lol. Oh yeah, the new NG layout is kind of weird. Why use two different things? Jeez, Kristin, I was expecting something horrifying with that video. Looks like just another day in my neighborhood. 😀

  3. I enjoy the swimming, the gymnastics and the beach volley 🙂 I guess water-polo could be nice, too 😉

I need to check if my Netgalley feedback page has changed, too *sighs* so many changes these days! My Facebook Page thing looks different, too. I was one of the beta-users for the new Goodreads page, so I’ve gotten used to that a while back.

Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading!

  4. I am so pumped about the Olympics. My husband could care less and thinks I am weird – whatever! I am ok with the Goodreads page because mine has looked like that for a while but the Netgalley page is weird. Oh lots of good books this week! I was debating on the new Jodi Picoult book but passed. Can’t wait to see what you think. Have a great week!

  5. I’ve been curious about B vs S. So this makes me happy you liked it! And yes, I watched Woman’s Rugby (brutal) fencing, swimming and men gymnastics yesterday!

I actually like the new Goodreads pages. I think it’s easy on the eyes and to navigate!

  6. I don’t like the multiple submit buttons on the new netgalley page. I keep putting stuff in the wrong spot!!
I actually kind of like the new goodreads home page. I think I might be the only one. Everyone else seems to be complaining, but I think its more visually appealing.
Yay Olympics!!! I love it so much! I watch everything-even the sports I have never watched!

  7. The Book Jumper is such an awesome title and cover! Will check it out. I like the new Goodreads page! Great that you mentioned it on here. I haven’t been on Netgalley this week, so can’t help you there! Hope your week will be great, you have a few great reads coming up!

  8. I totally missed the opening ceremony due to timezone. The GR homepage actually looks better and it took a while for me to get used to the NetGalley layout but it’s good, more helpful for the publishers I guess! I l looooved BvS so much, and Man of Steel and the trailer for Justice League, I am on fangirl heaven!

  9. I haven’t looked at NetGalley, so I don’t know if my page has changed. I’m not a fan of two submit buttons either. I saw Batman V Superman on release day. I was not a fan. I was bored most of the time. I did like Wonder Woman. I wish she had a larger part. I do not think Ben Affleck was horrible in it. I just thought the story was boring. I saw Suicide Squad this weekend and I did like it. It is much better than the critics are giving it credit for. It wasn’t perfect or as good as most Marvel movies, but I still thought it was good. The story was slow here at times. That seems to be a theme with DC.
