The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

I’m bored with my blog design again.  I think I’m going to change it.  The colors, layout, the layout of my posts… yeah, my blog needs a serious kick in the tookus.  I’m so fickle but I love changing up “my look” 🙂

When will this heat and humidity ever end??  We’ve been seriously hiding in the house the past week trying to avoid the 100% humidity and temperatures in the 90’s.  That’s just not normal for Michigan summers.  But hiding in the house means lots of Olympic watching, so it’s not all bad…

I’ve been reading Illuminae for some time now but I made huge progress this past week.  It’s mind blowing, incredible, and heeeeaaavvvvyy.  So I broke up my “heavy reading” with a little “easy reading” romance 😉

Thank you to Farrar, Straus and Giroux!!  After hearing about this book during a webinar, I knew I really, really wanted to read it. 🙂

So why didn’t anyone tell me about “Drunk History” from Comedy Central?  Apparently, Lin-Manuel Miranda did an episode on James Monroe.  During it, he drank 3/4 of a bottle of Honey Whiskey and FaceTimed a few friends (oops).  It must be coming up in Season 4.  Here’s a clip from one of the shows from Season 3, though.  I can watch anything Nathan Fillion does 😉

What kind of pretties did you get this week?

  1. At least you change your design once in a while. lol I’m not so good at that. Yeah it’s been humid- swampy air. I’ve been watching a lot of Olympics. And Illuminae is quite the trip isn’t it? The sequel is coming out in a few months I think.

    • Your mom is doing it during the wrong time of the year!!! She needs to head down during the winter!! What are you thinking?!?!?! Yes, I’m agreeing with everyone else 😉 But it’s probably the same sweltering, you just have the pool and all!!! Is she near Detroit??

    • I was SOOOO intimidated by Illuminae, too!! It does start off very confusing at first b/c there’s a ton of action and with the different format, it takes a bit to get used to it. But once I got past page 20 or so, I’ve been flying through the pages b/c you become accustomed to the “documents” that make up the book and it reads super fast.

I love your blog just the way it is!!!!! Although I wish your button was a square, though 😉 I haven’t tried yet to put it in my blogroll but I think it will just scroll longer, I think?

      • Grace

Dude I wish it was a square too! That’s what happens when you are a newbie and have stuff designed for you when you don’t know better.

  2. You’re good when it comes to changing up your design, as you’re able to do it yourself. I don’t have time to learn that stuff, and so, it’s good that I’m still happy with my blog’s look, I guess 🙂
I have started reading Illuminae, and I need to continue. It’s just one of those books that has to be read in paper to get the full experience, and I’m not used to holding heavy books anymore – my kindle has ruined me!
I hope the weather will cool down a bit, even if it’s helped you watch lots of the Olympics 😉
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading, Kristin!

    • You do your own designs!! I’ve seen the buttons you made for your books 🙂

And I never realized that I need to actually wear my glasses to read physical books AND have good lighting!!! I can’t just open up and read Illuminae whenever I want, that’s for sure 🙁

  3. Kristen, I like you site today, there’s a lot of man abs going on. 😁 Anyways, I get board with my site too. I’m a lots of bright colors kinda girl and my site is very dark and gray/orange. I can’t wait to see what you do to change it up. Have a great week!!

  4. I really need to get around to changing my blog design. I changed up my header to hold me over but I still need something better. I’m such a procrastinator though.
The weather has been similar here. High 90’s, low 100’s and raining every single day. It’s miserable and we are tired of being cooped up inside. Hopefully we have a nice Fall season.
Have a great week and happy reading! 🙂

  5. I design change is good to keep things fresh and new. I also need to change some posts around since they are getting so stale. I do however love your design. 🙂
Hot isn’t even the right word for what it is outside, we need to come up with a word that means more than hot. I HATE this weather and it being this hot is not making me happy at all. I think I honestly am excited for Winter and we better not be winter jipped like we were last year. I want a cold christmas. 🙂

Have a great week, Kristin! Happy Reading! ox

    • Autumn, just get here already!!! Let’s do some native american dance to speed it up okay?? Hotter than Hades, we’ll call it. 🙁 BTW – I love your design b/c it’s so clean. 😛

  6. Design changes always give me a little boost and get me excited about blogging so I can understand why you would constantly want to change. I can’t change our layout because I’m not that talented, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve changed the fonts. I can’t seem to find a set of fonts that I love forever! Good thing Nereyda doesn’t notice haha. 😛
What did you think of Rookie Move?? I loved it so much! LEO is MINE.
What a freaking creepy cover for that book you got. I got chills looking at it.
    Happy reading, friend!!

    • Creepy cover is right!!! It’s supposed to be a Virgin Suicides type of story – even more creepy!!! BTW – did you see they added more fonts to Google Fonts??? I LOVE it!!!! And I can’t find a good mix either… I can’t tell you how much I hate that you can’t change your design *super frown*

Please be safe and take care of you and your family this next weeks!!!!!

    • Well, yeah, where you are it’s always humid, my dear. YUCK!!!!! But I am UBER jealous of the awesome thunder storms you guys get there!! Those super dark clouds rolling in…. cool!!! Yep, just stay inside and watch Olympics.

  7. I like the colors and clean lines of your blog but I understand the need for change. I’m sure whatever you come up with next will be just as awesome!

I’m reading Rookie Move right now and am enjoying it so far. What did you think of it? Or should I just wait for your review? Ha! Feel free to tell me to be patient and I’ll try to be. 🙂

Im curious about Under the Lights as well. Did you like it?

  8. Ugh, I won’t even get started on how *stuck* I am with our theme. Luckily I like it but still wish we could change things…

Our summer is over 110 degrees, even at midnight it’s over 100 degrees. But we have dry heat which is so much better than humid heat. I’m so used to our weather now though.

Illuminae was amazing! I heard the audio and holy hell was it fantastic!
