Fate. Hate. Love. Lies.Which four letter word will change their lives forever?
Sydney Paige was never so mortified to hear the words "wrong number" in her life. She meant to tell off the guy who broke her best friend's heart, but unleashed her anger on a perfect stranger instead. And now her world is turned upside down by the captivating man who wants to keep her on the line.
Brian Savage is living a life he's quickly come to hate-until Sydney's wild rant has him hooked and hungry for more. Soon the sexy woman on the phone becomes the lover in his bed. But Brian has secrets, and the closer he lets Syd get, the harder it is to shield her from the devastating mistakes of his past . . .
Why, oh why did I look at my friend’s reviews of this one? What was I thinking?? I’ve just put pressure on myself to explain my love of this story. I’ve got to list my reasons and have them make sense. This is such a daunting task for me because it’s rare for me to make much sense. Just ask my husband.
This dirty little romance (okay, not all that dirty) really took me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting such a great, well-written story. Apparently I’m in the minority because I see a lot of my friends either gave it a low rating or just flat out couldn’t finish it. But me? I could not put this one down! I ripped through this emotional rollercoaster and loved the thrill ride.
Thrilling as in the moment a person gets a do-over and their whole new life is just starting. I love “new lives”! That’s exactly what happened to Sydney Paige when her husband up and decides that he no longer loves her and wants a divorce. With her world shattered into pieces, she temporarily moves in to her best friend’s house and stumbles into her mess of a love life – her boyfriend is married! Having had enough of the crap men are pulling on women that day, Sydney dials her best friend’s ex-boyfriend, intent on reaming him out. It isn’t until she’s about done with her curse-ladden rant that she realizes she’s dialed the wrong number.
Because neither have anything to lose by talking to each other on the phone, Sydney and Brian, the guy she called on accident, start a friendship over the phone.
What intrigued me was the dynamics of such a relationship. How does a relationship evolve when neither person has seen the other one? What would happen if they met? Should they meet or would that “ruin it”?
I was also gripped by the complete and utter despair that Brian was living in due to the guilt he felt over the “thing” that happened in his past. Total creep factor 9 on what Brian was doing to raise money (and punish himself) but by the end of the story, it made sense to me. It fit into the plot and the resolution. I really did feel sorry for the guy.
I liked Sydney well enough. I liked her best friend Tori, too. Jamie, Brian’s best friend, infinitely annoyed me. But it was the story that really held my attention. And that’s what I’m counting on for Tori and annoying Jamie’s story coming up in December 2016 (∗grabby hands∗ for next book in the series!!!)
