Sunday Post #115: A Perfect Week

Posted March 5, 2017 in Meme / 21 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

We had a pretty good week here.  This mama is not sweatin’ anymore for her son’s birthday present; we got our hands on a new Nintendo Switch console.  Jake won’t actually be able to open it until his birthday next month but I am so relieved to have the console here, in the house.  Phew!  I did NOT want to spend the next month hunting one of those down.

My progress so far:

  • Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop – 61% complete

If you didn’t notice yet, Edelweiss phased out their old dashboard on March 1st.  You can “kind of” use the old dashboard still but I discovered something when I went to the new dashboard this week.  I had a bunch of books that I had been approved for that never showed up approved on the old dashboard.  One book I actually missed downloading before it was archived.  But who would think there would be a difference between information on the two dashboards?  Not me.

I still have difficulty getting around the site, despite having attended a webinar a few months back on how to work the new dashboard.  But I’m getting there.

A great big “kiss” thank you to Penguin, Random House, Macmillan, and Hachette this week!  Every single one of these review books was on my TBR!!!  I love when weeks like those happen 🙂

If you haven’t seen this trailer yet, you NEED to!  One of my favorite songs in the world by Fleetwood Mac is in it.  I’m going to totally date myself and tell you that I remember the day my parents were excited for this Fleetwood Mac album to come out and we went to Peaches Records to buy it.  I loved that HUGE store when I was a kid!

Favorite quote from trailer: “Hi.”  I’m really curious about how the Living Planet fits in the plot, too!  Hmmmm….  I’m too geeky…

And just because I actually LOL’d yesterday (make sure the kiddies aren’t around for this one!) …

Have a great week!

  1. Ooh you got a Switch! Awesome. I think I want one too- and I definitely want that new Zelda game, it looks rad.

The Chain!! F yes! I am ALL over that- best FM song ever. That movie might rock. And is Baby Groot eating M&M’s?

    • FM is da bomb, right?! Remember all their drama?? Oh Lindsey and Stevie… And I’m guessing Groot is eating either M&Ms or Reese’s Pieces??? Not a clue!! But he is so adorbs!!! I can’t wait to see if Mantis is going to match her character in the comics!!!

    • Oh crap! I can see from your blog post title you’re quoting church songs. That’s never a good sign with you. I’m stocking up on canned goods and Toilet paper!!!

  2. Oh I requested Twist and I hope I get approved. Yes, I had a few differences in my Edelweiss dashboard too, but once I adjusted the time frame option everything was the same. My husband also got a Switch. He’s a huge Nintendo fan and had it preordered. I’m so glad that you were able to get one for your son. I’m sure he’ll love it! Have a great week!

    • I completely respect and understand your husband’s fandom over Nintendo!!! We watch all the Youtube videos over here and sit on Reggie’s every word 😉 They are still on my s-list about the NES Classic console but but what can you do?

  3. Hi, friend! I’m so happy you snagged up a Switch! Did you ever get a NES Classic console? I’d love to get my hubs a Switch…but not gonna happen right now. 😉 I’m excited for Twist, I snagged that one too. And I’ve never been able to figure out Edelweiss. I like the new look, much more snazzy, but still lost when I spend any time on the site.

  4. Sounds like a good week, definitely.

It sucked that you missed out on some books because you didn’t know that you were approved for. I would be frustrated.

I hope you have a great reading week, Kristin!

  5. I don’t like the new dashboard. I found that most of my reviews were missing and I had to manually add a bunch of them, that was beyond annoying. It’s riddled with bugs.. they REALLY shouldn’t put out something buggy like this, but yea

  6. Love those trailers. Saw both, want to see the movies. Totally curious about the living planet too (not the only geek here! LOL). I’ll have to check out edelweiss’s new dash. I’m wondering if I missed some things as well.

Happy early birthday to your son! Glad you got his gift. I’m in the middle of making some b-day gifts.
