Sunday Post #116: Do You Know What Time It Is?

Posted March 12, 2017 in Meme / 33 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Dear Lord, my body can’t take this back and forth in the weather.  I think I’m too old for this nonsense!  I’ve had a migraine, no joke, since Friday before last!  We had crazy high winds this past Wednesday and when those isobars on the weather map get together to make high pressure winds, my head feels it like a vise ∗squeeeeeeezzzzze∗  I’m functional today (Saturday), just in time to take care of my hubs who is grouchily sick with a cold.  Awesome!

To make myself feel warmer, and thereby miss the southwest more than I already do, I’m currently watching the BNP Paribas Tennis Tournament taking place in Indian Wells, California.  ∗sigh∗  I miss girl weekends spent in the desert.  And years before I lived in Southern California, I was actually staying in Indian Wells attending my cousin’s wedding when the 1992 Landers & Big Bear earthquakes hit.  Sitting at the Palm Springs airport during aftershocks was a bit unnerving o.O

My progress so far:

  • Marked in Flesh by Anne Bishop – Done!
  • A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro – Done!
  • Night Broken by Patricia Briggs – 10% complete

It doesn’t seem like much but to me, this is a LOT of reading.  It’s hard for me to read with a migraine because I have a hard time focusing my eyes when I have a migraine.  It also hurts my face to wear my glasses (I know, I’m such a whiner, right?!?!).  The other thing is, I can’t listen to audio books because my 10 year old son is home with me all day and he talks to me (the nerve, right???).

  1. I hate the time change- just sayin that up front. I bitched about it in the fall and I’m bitchin again. Okay done. And yeah that windstorm- what the $%^& was that?? SoCal sounds pretty good with this bullshit weather we’ve been having.

Seriously though I hope your migraine goes away and your guy feels better. Love that Sarah Andersen- so true *snort*

    • If you like suspenseful UF, Patricia Briggs is the shiznit! She writes good 😉 tee, hee

And thank you… I’m getting there on the feeling better 🙂

    • I’m really thinking of not moving off the couch until May or Mother Nature makes up her mind…. seriously. And I’m going into A&E with no preconceived notions what so ever so we’ll see 🙂

  2. Sorry about your migraines. I know exactly what you mean about not being able to focus on reading when you have a headache. I don’t get migraines, but I get some pretty bad headaches (mostly tension headaches). I can’t focus at all. I tend to veg in front of a tv on shows that I’ve already seen so I don’t have to actually pay attention when I have them. The nerve to not allow you to listen to audiobooks. Shame. LOL

    • I know, right?!?! Hey, but at least I know everything about almost every Youtuber out there and this morning, it’s all about Five Nights at Freddy’s World RPG. I downloaded it last night for him and he’s hooked. He’s a little behind on his FNAF but in his defense, he’s a HUGE retro Nintendo gamer so Kirby gets in his way 🙂 And I know ALL ABOUT IT 😉 Tee, hee…. baby hippo videos to watch 🙂

    • I went out and bought A Study in Charlotte because I was SOOOO intrigued and I’m curious what YOU’LL think. Don’t think it’ll be a light, happy book, but I absolutely LOVED getting lost in the darkness of the tale. It is some truly messed up, twisted stuff in there! Please excuse my lack of command of the English language this morning – my meds are still kicking in my system!!! 🙂

  3. Ugh the weather has been wrecking havoc on my sinuses as well. its miserable!!! Hopefully mother nature gets her s#!t together and things get better. My head can’t take much more. And I ran out of excedrin this morning!
Hope you have a great week!

  5. Sorry to hear about your migraine and your hubs being sick. Migraines are seriously no fun. I get them chronically, and so does my boss. I think we’ve been taking turns all year — every now and then we actually manage to see each other!

    Hope everything gets better soon!

  6. Sorry about the migraines, Kristin! I hope this week is much better, and that Mr. Husband isn’t grouchily sick with a cold anymore 😉
We don’t switch to summer time until the 26th, but I feel almost jet-lagged when that happens.
Your new books look great, I’m such a huge Mercy fan, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll think of her.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading.

  7. I’m sorry to hear about your migraines, Kristin. I hope you feel better soon and I don’t want to brag or anything but here in So Cal…our weather has been lovely. 🙂 You should just move to Southern Cali and enjoy some nice hiking with me!

I’m curious about the new Melissa De La Cruz but I’m not requesting any eARCs right now so I’ll be on the look out for your review. Happy reading and have a great week!

  8. Ugh, Why can’t kids just be quiet? haha I started book 10 in the Mercy Thompson series on audio last week. I’m like 25% through and I’m struggling to find time to listen to it. The two-year-old never shuts up! And when she does, the baby cries! Ahh!
Hang in there. I hope the migraine passes soon.
