Sunday Post #120: That Was An Intense Week

Posted July 30, 2017 in Meme / 16 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

I hadn’t planned on it right now but when my computer started making “crunching” noises, I ordered a new one.  A while back I looked at computers and compared getting a Mac vs PC.  Macs were completely out of my price range for everything I wanted and needed: a solid-state drive, a graphics-dedicated card, and a 17″ monitor, all in a laptop.  I found it in a Dell PC at Best Buy (of all places).   I didn’t go with another HP computer because the one that’s “crunchy”, an Envy I bought only 3 years ago, won’t let me update the graphics card, which is an Intel card, but HP is blocking the Intel update!  Proprietary junk or something like that.  Well, that helps me… NOT!!  No more HP for me if I can help it.

We went to see The Emoji Movie Friday night.  Yeah, you can wait for the “video” on that one.  Meh.

  1. I need to start looking for a laptop, My current computer is fine but I’m having memory issues. Plus I need something for a backup. Glad you found something good!

You got Into The Drowning Deep? Ooh killer $%^& mermaids!!! I hope it’s great!!!

    • 4 words for you… BACK TO SCHOOL SALES!!! And honestly, I needed a huge monitor for graphics. I didn’t want to have to plug in two monitors. OH! Have you plugged the max memory in your computer yet??? I did that once and it was sooooo easy!!

    • Oh, for blogging, you have soooooo many options!! Especially right now, with back to school sales!! Best Buy even had MacBooks on sale when I was looking before…. for reals!!! 🙂 I just need big and fast for graphic design (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc).

  2. I have to say going to a Mac was the best thing I did. Although I didn’t need anything special. I have had it three years or so with no issues. I have heard nothing good about the new emoji movie. Thankfully my kids haven’t asked about it. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  3. I would love to get a Mac, bit they are so expensive and not is our budget for sure. I have an HP laptop an it seems to work ok. I would to upgrade at some point, My issue was learning Windows 10. Awe, I think the Emoji looks cute, but my kids told me they were too old to see it. 🙁 Love the new additions this week. Can’t wait to see what you think of Into the Drowning Deep! Thank you for stopping by earlier.

  4. I really need a new laptop. I have a HP one and it’s getting very old. I think I bought in 2013 or something like that.

    Have a nice week! 🙂

  5. It’s the worst when you have to replace technology that should, in all rights, not need updating yet! Grr! I hope you like you’re new Dell. I have a chromebook – cheap and I didn’t need much in my laptop, since I also have a desktop – and I love it!

LOL emoji movie?! I will look forward to your video about that! Havea great week!

  6. I hope you find a solution to your computer woes soon. That sucks. I was just remarking yesterday how the kids movies this summer have been dismal. I took them to see Captain Underpants which was pretty funny, but all the others are getting poor reviews so we will catch them on video in the fall. I don’t even think I will bother with the Emoji movie at all, it looks lame.

  7. We got a Mac for our last laptop. It had some video editing software that came with it that we wanted. I do agree that they are very pricey. I’m hoping that it might last longer than the PC did. We will see. I also didn’t get several of the things you mentioned (I have a 13″ monitor and no solid state drive) Good luck with your new computer. I hope you’re having a great week.
