Sunday Post #124: You’re a Hard Habit to Break

Posted September 17, 2017 in Meme / 18 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Happy Sunday, folks!  How are ya doing today? Me? Very busy with my son’s online school.  I knew middle school was going to be different for him but getting him motivated and trying to stay organized is soooo haaarrrd (insert whining mother here).  But I still LOVE online school for my son and I wouldn’t change a thing.  Our school system sucks and kids are bullies to kids who are different.

Did you know that you DON’T type TWO SPACES after a period when you type a sentence anymore? Nobody told me so pardon my oddly formatted typing.  I’m too old for this shit.  I only found out about the “change” when someone in one of my design groups went into great detail about how much it bothered him that his client couldn’t stop double spacing after the end of a sentence and everyone jumped on and agreed with him.  I’ll never break this habit…

LAST WEEK ON THE BLOG:

Hey!  I posted one review!  Woot!

Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett – it’s a YA fantasy that I thought was really cool.

  1. Good for you on online school, I’ve looked into it too. Schools suck in so many ways for lots of kids, and yeah bullying is just ridiculous.

Who makes these changes? I wasn’t consulted.

Enjoy One Dark throne! I thought it was the bomb.

    • I’m so glad I snagged One Dark Throne at the last minute!! I haven’t read the first one yet but b/c you and several others are giving the series rave reviews I MUST START IT!!!! 🙂 And I blame the millennials… but it has to do with html or some crap like that 😛

  2. Oh I am glad you were able to do online school for your son! I hate to think of any student not having a choice when the school fails them.
I will forever double space after a period as well. Except on my iPhone because it automatically only does one space. Its smarter than me when it comes to keeping up with grammar rules.
Enjoy your books! They look good!

  3. I totally agree. Getting everything organised for my daughter and her schooling is hard. She is a procrastinator and I have OCD, so I drive her crazy. lol… We live in such a little county that there is one middle and one high school, and the system is awful. My son still goes and that only because he wants to stay in ROTC.
I love the new books! Happy reading and thank you for stopping by.

  4. I had no idea that you had to do two spaces after a period….weird!! I also just do one. I have no clue if I can even break that habit. I guess my readers will have to deal hehe Great ARC’s you received too. I am curious about that kiss…Shalvis is a great author to read. I am crossing my fingers it will be a good one.

  5. Haha.. your habit is harmless so don’t worry about it. 😉😁 I make lots of mistakes myself, mostly grammatical mistakes. 🙈
Anyway, glad to Hera about your son’s online school, I get it. We can’t avoid bullies nowadays especially in schools. I’ve heard many cases. I hope your son enjoy his online learning.
Have a wonderful week, Kristin, and happy reading. 😁

  6. I never double spaced after the end of a sentence. LOL. Keep doing what you want, it doesn’t bother me.

*sees new Jill Shalvis novel, quickly goes to Edelweiss and downloads* 🙂

Hope you have a great week!

  7. Double spacing after a dot was a thing? O.o wow, I didn’t know that! Well, in any case, it’s better than no spaces. I know some people who will just not use spaces after commas and dots. It’s infuriating 😀

  8. I STILL can’t get over that you only use one space after a period. Lol – that’s how we were raised!!! Pretty sure I lost marks in typing class if I only had one space after a period 🙂

  9. Ha! It took me a long time to break the double space habit but I’ve done it. I wasn’t all that enthused about the change either because dude, I’ve been doing it for so long!!

I’m glad that your son is in a better learning environment and that you’re liking the online schooling. You gotta do what’s best for your kids.

I’m stoked for the new Shalvis. I need to know more about that kiss!

I hope you have a great week, Kristin!
