Sunday Post #125: I Don’t Like Pumpkin Spice Latte

Posted October 1, 2017 in Meme / 19 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Fall is here! Temperatures here in Southeast Michigan have cooled down immensely because, yep, that’s crazy Midwest weather.  Red Wings hockey officially starts this coming week but sadly, my Tigers’ season ended in August. But I think I’m the only one on Earth not looking forward to the fall pumpkin spice drinks at Starbucks, McD’s, Tim Horton’s… where ever.  Blech, too sweet 😛

Last weekend we saw the Lego Ninjago movie and I’ve got to say, it was really funny! I thought it was really well-written and much better than the Batman movie. My hub is anxiously waiting for Thursday night this week… (dum dum dum….) Bladerunner 2049. I grew up with Sci-fi nut parents so I was (am still) always hearing my dad grumble about not being able to watch the theatrical version of Bladerunner anymore.  Let it go, Dad….

A bit of tech-y news in case you weren’t aware: Google, the company behind Chrome, has begun labeling sites that are “http:” as “Not Secure”.   They began doing this with sites that handle credit card payments or take other information.  Starting on October 24th, you’ll see this more on other sites.  The best article that explains this, with pictures 🙂 is this ONE.

How does this affect you? Not much really.  As review blogs, we don’t take payments.  But, if you have a business blog, you may want to look into this.  And there’s different kinds at different price levels.  I purchased a single certificate for my design business blog for about $30.

I’m NOT an expert on these things so definitely do your homework if you think this will impact you.

Please, someone go take care of Puerto Rico.  This is getting ridiculous, insane, sad, heartbreaking…  who has a boat?

About Kristin

Kristin has to ensure she gets her minimal requirement of "happily ever after" books in between those books that contain cliffhangers and never-ending story arcs. It's for her family's sake. When not reading, she's homeshooling her 10-year old son, watching cartoons on TV, or taking a nap.

  1. Pumpkin spice lattes are like mango smoothies for me- it’s all about where you get ’em., Some places I love ’em, some places… ugh.

Blade Runner 2049 looks awesome and early reviews are good. Did they pull it off, and actually make a Blade Runner sequel that doesn’t suck???? Oh and I’m with your dad- I like the voiceover version?

Nice to have the Wings back… ah fall.

  2. Yes, omg, yes! I thought I was the only one who thought Pumpkin Spice was too sweet 😀 the spice part is fine! But it’s just waaaayyyyy too sweet.
    That’s a great one about Giles 😀
    Anyway, have a great October!

  3. I love Pumpkin Spice but I am all about Green Mountains K-Cup Cinnamon Sugar Cookie! I love all things cinnamon. I enjoy my pumpkin spice in breads and yogurts. 🙂
I have a message in to my host about the SSL for both of my sites (business and blog) so I will see what happen. I am hoping they can direct me what to do. I think they offer it.

Have a great week, Kristen! Happy Reading! ox

  4. Am I the only one who loves pumpkin spice everything?!?! *cries in corner* I went and read the article about the http, and my site is a https one so I think I am safe. Whew….. I will my husband check it for me to make sure. Thanks for sharing that. You got really good books this week girl! Moonlight Sins especially! Enjoy them.

  5. So true, I have turned into Giles. I’m okay with it.
Its still hot here in SW ohio and I am OVER IT. I don’t like pumpkin spice drinks either. but I do love pumpkin bread, pie, etc.

  6. We are looking forward to seeing the latest Lego movie. We actually loved Batman Lego, it was way funny. I had no idea about the google thing, I am not even going to worry about it. I am so beyond worrying about all that crap. I just want to blog and make my life easy.

  7. I can’t do lattes with or without pumpkin spice (coffee disagrees with me), so it’s a moot point in my case. If I want a pumpkin fix, I have to get it in something else… like pumpkin bread. Or pumpkin donuts. I am looking forward to both of those!
I have The Love Letters of Lily and Abelard on my “want to read list.” I hope it’s as good as it sounds — assuming I ever get around to it! I’ll have to pop back for your review, whenever you post it.

Thanks for the heads up on secure vs. nonsecure sites. Joy. More ways to put money into my blog and website…

Finally some people who don’t like pumpkin spice lattes, it seems like everybody around me loves them and can’t get why I don’t. I admit though I do occasionally get a peppermint white mocha in December . You are right let’s just help Puerto Rico and stop tweeting about the mayor.

  9. I’ve never even had a Pumpkin Spice Latte or anything else pumpkin (drink wise) but I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin squares, and those things.

You got a lot of great books to look forward to. I hope they’re all good and you breeze right through each of them.

    Have a great week, Kristin!

  10. Oh, wow! I had no idea about that re: Google. I’m definitely going to do a bit research on that one. Honestly, I don’t blame you about the pumpkin spice things–it’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Or, er, coffee. I don’t like it from most places because it’s too sweet like you said but there’s a cafe by my house that does it well–the coffee is strong and the flavor isn’t overly sweet so it all balances out.

I hope you enjoy your books! And the week. I agree about Puerto Rico–it’s all very nerve wracking. I feel for every-one caught up in it.
