Sunday Post #127: Happy New Year!

Posted January 7, 2018 in Meme / 14 Comments

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Reviewer and it’s a chance to showcase new books and re-cap your week of blogging.

Happy 2018!

Took me long enough but I’m finally back on my blog. I just can’t seem to get myself motivated these days. I think I need to get back to exercising because I have zero energy to do anything. And this weather is NOT helping one bit! It’s too damn cold out!

In Southeast Michigan, the temperatures are staying in the teens during the day and dipping below 0°F at night. With the vicious winds and the foot of snow on the ground, it’s just miserable. My poor dog, who normally likes to takes his sweet time outside doing his thing, is totally besides himself these days. He freezes his poor paws and does this funny walk and then just sits there because he can’t do anything. And gets nothing done.

While on break, I’ve been reading on and off but I’ve been very fickle. The only books that have been satisfying me lately are the urban fantasy series that I love from authors like Anne Bishop or Patricia Briggs. Romances are falling flat and becoming predictable.

I’m currently reading The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and it’s very well written and keeping my attention. We’ll see how long that lasts; I’m only at 14%.

I won’t even share how many reviews I’m behind on writing and I’m halfway in between changing the look of my website/blog… again…  oh, and getting my business website up and running… yup, totally unmotivated…  😀

Thank you to Simon & Schuster and HarperCollins for my two review books this week. I purchased Stillhouse Lake and Our Dark Duet finally when they were on sale over New Years.

  1. Yup- too frickin cold. I feel like I’m in a snowy wasteland over here! Lol about the dog- I feel for him. 🙂

The Wife Between Us looks good from what I’ve seen and stillhouse Lake too. I still seem to be picking up thrillers…

    • You’ve got to be buried under a ton of lake effect snow! Blech!! Now they’re saying our St. Clair River and the Detroit River might flood… boo!!!!

    • WHAAATT?!?!? You’re that cold down there?!?! Yikes!!! How are the horses???? Blankets and heaters all around 🙁 Too bad you just can’t bring them inside, huh? I had no idea it was that cold – my aunts didn’t say anything…

  2. We’ve been below freezing for 7 days now, and I am really over it. Our doxie does his business is record time now. He hates the cold and the snow. We do have a small warm front coming and it will be in the 40’s. I’ll take what I can I guess. But of course, there is another cold front right behind it. O’well… You got some really good books. I keep looking at Onyx and Ivory. 🙂 Have a great week Kristin!!!

  3. Its been crazy cold here as well. Everyone is miserable. Friday most of the schools were closed because the wind advisory. It was too cold for kids to be outside walking to school or waiting for the bus. Crazy! So, I vote stay inside and read!!!

  4. Your review books are two that I’m interested in as well! My dogs are the same when it gets cold. They don’t want to be outside, but instead of doing their business quickly, they stand there and look miserable and stare at me like I’m being mean. Hope you get motivated to get your reading going again. You can check out my Sunday Post in the link below!
