Review: Finding Master Right by Sparrow Beckett

The thing about the books I’ve read so far is that the Dom is always in control (duh) and it’s always the sub playing catch-up, in other words, working through personal issues and growing. But I haven’t read anything yet where we saw more into the Dom’s point of view and backstory…. until now. And I really enjoyed this fresh spin on a relationship and the romance!

Review: The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward

J.R. Ward is the Warden to me. I’ve read a few of her books. Okay, it’s been nine of them. I’ve read The Black Dagger Brotherhood books up to #10 (I’m having a hard time getting past missing Wellsie, sorry!). Ms. Ward has always been one of my favorite authors. She is good.

Review: Halfway Perfect by Julie Cross and Mark Perini

I was interested in reading “Halfway Perfect” by Julie Cross and Mark Perini because I really enjoyed Ms. Cross’ book, “Third Degree” that came out last year. It was such a fun, clever, and romantic story. “Halfway Perfect” turned out to be a totally different type of story than “Third Degree” and maybe my disappointment in not getting another “Third Degree” clouded my enjoyment of this one. Ever have that happen to you? Have your expectations all set for one thing and then get served another? That’s kind of what happened to me here.

Review: Dream a Little Dream by Kerstin Gier

Totally unexpected. That is the best way to sum up ALL my feelings about this book. This is a tough review for me because I always like to review books objectively. At the same time, there has to be some of my opinion in the review or else I’ll end up sounding like every other generic review. But in this particular story, there was a quirky little point of fact that I kept having a problem looking past the entire time I was reading the story. Hence my 3 ½ star review. I really liked the story, but I can’t go overboard on the “love”.

Review: Taming Lily by Monica Murphy (plus Owning Violet and Stealing Rose)

I’ve been known to read a series or two out of order. Or only read one book in the middle of a series. But for Monica Murphy, I will read the entire series and in order. Besides the fact that she is just a friendly, totally approachable author, she has a writing style I enjoy reading. It’s sexy-hot, sometimes dark (at least this series was), has dual points-of-view, and oh-my-gosh the “romance” is scorching! Yes, it does deserve two mentions.

Review: Hollywood on Tap by Avery Flynn

I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Ms. Flynn this year at Readers and Authors Get Together in early June. I had been hearing awesome things about her and her writing. Turns out, she’s a pretty awesome person if you get the chance to meet her in “real life”. She’s so down to earth, funny, generous, and someone you know you would have fun getting drunk with. Yep, that’s an author I want to support. So I bought a few of her books.

Sunday Post #51: I’m Still Getting Caught Up

I’m going to look like the WORST blogger in history this week. It’s been a while since I’ve looked at Edelweiss so I needed to go in, grab, and get out before some books disappeared on me. Don’t even talk to me about my % average in NetGalley… it ain’t good. I WILL get back above 80%! Yes, it will happen before the close of 2015. I think I feel a reading challenge coming on… unless someone else already thought of it. Hmmmm, got to go Google that one.
