Outside of my normal type of reads, I decided to take a chance on the much hyped The Wife Between Us. Normally, this would be a recipe for disaster, right? But in this case, it was a huge WIN for me because holy moth balls!! This story rocked in so […]

I am not sure how to classify Jennifer Ryan’s books. I read most of her Montana Men series. And now she’s started this spin-off, Montana Heat. Delving into the law enforcement side, out in the country of Montana, her books are one third suspense, one third action, and one third […]
I might not be the best person to review the suspense genre but I’m going to give it a try. Just keep in mind that I’m a “virgin” to the genre. Be gentle…
If I was asked after BEA 2016 to pick the one book I received that I was most intrigued about and excited to read, I would have answered Sarah Porter’s Vassa in the Night. Not only was this book handed out to readers wrapped up like a present, it […]
I love stories with the soft spoken, hard working, tough guy who is nothing but a gentleman to the ladies. Yep, I like a strong guy 🙂
Being second book in a series is always tough. “Sophomore slump” is what they call it when the second book doesn’t live up to the quality of the first book. Well, none of that here. Sophie Jordan is a damn fine writer and that’s mainly why I pick up […]
Brutal beginning, Ms. Ryan! I remember sitting in some session, some where, and the speaker noted that an author needs to hook a reader in the first chapter or the book has the potential to fail. On that point alone, Ms. Ryan ran away with the Stanley Cup, the Heisman, and the Super Bowl trophy in one fell swoop!
Dare to Run felt dark, gritty, and so real to me. I flipped through its pages fast and could not make myself put the book down for a second. I seriously lost hours engrossed in this suspenseful romance between a self-confessed bad guy and a girl who grew up on the streets and was given a chance on a good life.
What an odd, quirky story this turned out to be. Not at all what I thought it would be going into it. I loved the humor but turns out there’s a bit of a mystery here, too.
The first book in Jennifer Chance’s Gowns & Crowns series was all about the Prince finding his Princess and all that fairytale romance mushy stuff, with a bit of intrigue added in. Well holy smokes did Ms. Chance ramp up the intrigue. She added in a whole lot of suspense to this second book in the series. It was almost as if Intrigue walked up to Romance and asked it to dance.
